What weβre about
π HELLO AND WELCOME TO MOVIE ROADHOUSE LONDON THE LARGEST MOVIE CLUB IN LONDON MADE BY MOVIE FANS FOR MOVIE FANS.
In a nutshell, we are just a bunch of Film Buffs, Filmmakers and Creators who like to go out for drinks and watch movies. We also rate and review the films after we watch them and the results are posted on our **Letterboxd **Page.
We are also avid supporters of Independent Cinema, The Film Festival Guild, Medicinema and establishments like Prince Charles Cinema and the British Film Institute to mention a few. Thanks to this we sometimes gain special access and discounts to special events that we can then share with you. Plus we meet up regularly for a social to catch up again at the BFI which is a lot of fun.
We try to stay well informed when it comes to film news, New Releases and Re-Releases and members are also able to vote for what films they want to see through our WhatsApp Group (at request), WhatsApp Channel, Telegram Group (at request) and Telegram Channel.
Whatever the time of year we do our best to always be around, come and join us for a good time.

π PRELUDE TO A CRASH
There was an old man who lived in a Todoroki Shu. He had so many wins, he didn't know what to do. Then I gave him a tyre without a tread which flew upward unexpectedly and then dropped back down like a thump. And like a speed race bullet the shu soundly put him to bed.Hey π Letβs get ready for a high-octane sports drama starring an aging but still relevant Brad Pitt as former F1 Legend. The movie will follows this retired Formula 1 driver as he returns to the sport to mentor a young, talented rookie. The film is said to explore themes of redemption, teamwork, and the intense world of Formula 1 racing. Although this reeks like a story borrowed from Karate Kid: Legends and the Rocky Balboa movie, letβs not be fooled because it's directed by Joseph Kosinski who also did Top Gun: Maverick. This will also come from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger from a story they both co-wrote featuring the F1 World Championship, so this will have a unique smell of burnt rubber, engine oil, and burning steel which is what weβre aiming for.
Join me (Tom) and my pal Chris for a high fuelled, high adrenaline and heart-pounding ride with some crashing moments. Meet up details are down below:
- 4:15 PM: Meet and Greet at the iMax Cafe-Bar located on the ground floor, look out for the meet-up sign..
- 5:00 PM: We walk a few flights up to the IMAX Screen. I have selected seat J24.
- 7:15 PM: We reconvene again for our social iMax Cafe-Bar where we will Review & Score the Film. The results will be posted on Letterboxd.
- Don't forget our WhatsApp Group & Telegram Group are available on request. Or alternatively you can join non invasive WhatsApp Channel or Telegram Channel.

πͺ AN ANTI-WAR ALLEGORY SET IN AN UNNAMED COUNTRY
An old schoolfriend (future Pulitzer prize-winning playwright Howard Sackler) wrote the somewhat poetic script for the first film the 24 year old Kubrick directed, edited and photographed using a silent camera in a forest outside Los Angeles. It is where a young lieutenant, a battle-hardened sergeant, a tough GI and a nervous young recruit find themselves stranded in enemy territory after a plane crash and must confront their own fears and desires. The acting may be uneven but the photography is impressive, the soundtrack and editing inventive, and the picture throws a fascinating light on both America's emerging independent cinema and on Kubrick's future work, the key themes of which (eg the recurrence of doubles, the central idea of plans going tragically wrong through madness and human error) are to be found here. Check out the Trailer
For decades, the 62 minute version was all that existed of Fear and Desire, which a still dissatisfied Kubrick withheld from release throughout his lifetime. (...) Now, seven decades later, audiences can finally see Fear and Desire as it was first released and witness the blossoming of the young Stanley Kubrickβs cinematic genius.

π¦THE DINOSAURS THAT NEVER EXISTED
Or did they? It is calculated that Dinos have been extinct for about 65 million years. Except of course, those from the house of no imagination spelled H.O.L.L.Y.W.O.O.D.What's up cave-people π§On the promising side Gareth Edwards is directing this film, who you may remember from Rogue One and Godzilla. The script is penned by David Koepp who wrote Jurassic Park and Mission Impossible. And the cinematography is by John Mathieson who worked on Gladiator and Multiverse of Madness. This sequel will also be a soft reboot which is a way to restart a franchise without having to begin it again. This is so new audiences wonβt have to go through all the previous movies. So all you need to know now, is that this will take place five years after Dominion. The film will of course follow new scientists racing to extract DNA from Dinos just to save us. But Iβm guessing itβs really all about the money π¬
Hopefully one day we'll see a sequel taking place in prehistoric times with the use of a Time Machine. Now there's an idea that you can take to the bank. I'll come back to you with further meet-up details closer to the date. Ugghah ugghah for now.

π¬ PLOT DETAILS- Five years post-Jurassic World Dominion, an expedition braves isolated equatorial regions to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough. Trailer

πΏ A COMING OF AGE SAGA
Set in 1962 against the backdrop of the last days of the French-Algerian war and amidst the lush landscapes of Southern France, Wild Reeds is a coming-of-age saga looking at the sexual awakening of four teenagers. The quartet discover sensual delights while grappling with inner-conflict and political differences. Sensitive FranΓ§ois (GaΓ«l Morel) and feminist-communist MaΓ―tΓ© (Γlodie Bouchez) are in a somewhat stunted relationship, bonding over a mutual love for movies and rock'n'roll. However when FranΓ§ois meets Serge (StΓ©phane Rideau), a handsome muscular youth from the local farming community, he questions his sexuality, while MaΓ―tΓ© is seduced by Henri (FrΓ©dΓ©ric Gorny), a teenage exile whose political stance is in complete opposition to hers.
This movie echoes a poetic fable by Jean de La Fontaine (1621-1695): The Oak and the Reed. Boasting of his strength, the proud oak tree offers to shelter the frail reed. But the reed rejects the oak and, when a storm blows, the reed bends with the wind and survives, while the oak is torn up by its roots. Jean Lapoine and Germain Desmoulins have captured the clear, warm beauty of the sunshine in southern France in their cinematography. The bright lightness serves to illuminate the characters whose growth and change over the course of the film recall the words of La Fontaineβs contemporary, Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) who observed that: Man is nothing but a reed, the weakest thing in creation, but he is a reed that can think. Check out the Trailer|
This is an almost perfect cinematic experience, much like La Fontaine's fable, all of Wild Reedsβ adolescent characters need to learn to bend from their initial, inflexible positions and accept the ambiguities inherent in adulthood.
