London’s biggest film club, built by movie fans, for movie fans. We’re a buzzing community of movie lovers, indie filmmakers, comic geeks, and creators who live and breathe cinema. From cult classics to hidden gems, big-screen blockbusters to indie passion projects, we just love getting lost in movies.
We meet regularly for screenings, grab drinks after, and rave (or rant) together on our Letterboxd Page. You’ll often find us at our BFI Riverfront Socials — always a vibe. We stay on top of film news, and our members help vote on what we watch next via WhatsApp or Telegram (unlocked after your first meetup).
We aim to support independent cinema—whether at the Prince Charles Cinema, vibrant film festivals, or the BFI. That means we often enjoy special perks, early screenings, and exciting festival trips. From film quizzes to chill pub nights, there’s always something happening.

🌍🎬 THE SACRIFICE (4K RESTORATION FILM & DISCUSSION)
Curzon Mayfair, 38 Curzon Street, W1J 7TY, London, GB☢️ What would you give up if you knew the world was about to end!
👋 Hey guys! For this one we’re heading to Curzon Mayfair for the 4K restoration of Andrei Tarkovsky’s The Sacrifice, screening as part of Curzon’s Film 50 celebrations.
This was Tarkovsky’s final film, made in Sweden and released in 1986, the same year he died. It follows Alexander, a retired actor celebrating his birthday with his family when news arrives that nuclear war may have begun. Faced with the possibility of everything disappearing, he makes a desperate bargain with God.
It’s also an interesting meeting of two cinematic worlds. Tarkovsky made the film in Sweden with several people closely associated with Ingmar Bergman, most notably cinematographer Sven Nykvist, and the result unmistakably looking absolutely beautiful. Seeing Nykvist’s images in a new 4K restoration on the big screen feels like a pretty good reason to spend a Sunday afternoon at the cinema.
The Meetup: We’ll meet at the Curzon Mayfair bar from 2:15 pm for drinks and a chat before heading into the 3:00 pm screening. I’ll be in seat G21 if you want to book nearby.
The restoration runs for around 2 hours 29 minutes, so allowing for trailers we should be back at the bar at around 5:45 pm for our discussion and Letterboxd scores.

🔥🎬 FLAMING CREATURES
The Cinema Museum, The Master’s House, 2 Dugard Way, London, SE11 4TH, GB🔥The Cinema Museum is proud to present a series of avant-garde film screenings on 16mm in benefit of the Museum’s fundraiser to buy their home. This second screening of the season is the infamous Flaming Creatures (1963), directed by Jack Smith.
👋 Hi everyone! today we are watching a classic of queer, underground and experimental cinema at once, Flaming Creatures follows an ensemble of drag performers vamping it up in front of the camera and participating in a mock advertisement for a heart-shaped brand of lipstick. However, things take a dark, nightmarish turn when a transvestite chases, catches and begins molesting a woman. Soon, all of the titular “creatures” participate in a (mostly clothed) orgy that causes a massive earthquake.
After the creatures are killed in the resulting chaos, a vampire dressed like an old Hollywood starlet rises from her coffin to resurrect the dead. All ends happily enough when the now undead creatures dance with each other, even though another orgy and earthquake loom over the end title card.
Note: Because of the film’s sexual content, some venues refused to show Flaming Creatures, and in March 1964, police interrupted a screening and seized a print of the film. The screening’s organisers (Jonas Mekas, Ken Jacobs, and Florence Karpf) were prosecuted, and the film was ruled to be in violation of New York’s obscenity laws. Mekas and critic Susan Sontag mounted a critical defence of Flaming Creatures, and it became a cause célèbre for the New American Cinema movement.
The Cinema Museum is proud to present a rare screening of this avant-garde film classic in its original format. All proceeds go towards The Cinema Museum’s fundraiser to buy their long-term home.

👒🎬 SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

👋 Hi everyone! There are some stories that seem to become more wonderful with age, and Sense and Sensibility is certainly one of them. So I thought it would be lovely to spend an evening discovering this new adaptation of Jane Austen’s much-loved novel.
It looks like it’s been more than thirty years since Ang Lee’s first big-screen adaptation, and now director Georgia Oakley is attempting to bring Austen’s classic to a whole new generation. And according to Oakley, the intention is to honour Austen while creating something that doesn’t simply feel like another product of 2026.
This new interpretation has already inspired a little debate, which is perhaps part of the fun and certainly worth talking about. Generations will always change over time, and with them, the way we see characters and stories through our own sense and sensibilities.
At the heart of the story are sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, two very different young women navigating love, heartbreak and an uncertain future after a sudden change in their family’s circumstances.
The Meetup: Our evening will begin at 6:30 pm at Joshua’s Tavern, where we can settle in over drinks, catch up and, naturally, talk movies. At 7:30 pm, we’ll make our way over to VUE West End for the screening. I’ll be in seat D6 if you’d like to choose somewhere along the same row.
Once the film finishes at around 10:00 pm, we can get together again to compare impressions and give it our Letterboxd

👋 Hello everyone! We’re reassembling and heading back for Anthony and Joe Russo’s epic 2019 finale, Avengers: Endgame, as we look ahead to the forthcoming Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
While the core story remains the same, this new edition has been repackaged with additional footage and special sequences designed to bridge the story directly into Avengers: Doomsday. So this isn’t simply another rewatch. It is the Russos themselves stressing the importance of a brand new connection before we enter the next great chapter.
The plot as it stands is where the remaining Avengers are executing a "Time Heist" to reverse Thanos's snap and restore half of all life in the universe.
The Meetup: We’ll be meeting for a Film and Social where we can share our predictions, talk superhero lore and speculate about what might be coming in Avengers: Doomsday. And, then after the film, we’ll get together again to share our thoughts, discuss whether Endgame feels any different all these years later, and give it our Letterboxd scores.

So let’s reassemble and revisit one of Marvel’s biggest cinematic moments and see what new secrets might be waiting for us this time around.
