👋 Hi everyone! We're meeting for Paweł Pawlikowski's latest award-winning film, set against the backdrop of post-war Germany in 1949. It is beautifully shot in black and white, it explores exile, identity, family and the complicated meaning of home.

The film follows Nobel Prize-winning writer Thomas Mann and his daughter as they return to Germany after sixteen years in exile, embarking on an emotional journey through a country still recovering from the devastation of war. Mann finds himself confronting not only a nation divided between East and West, but also the painful fractures within his own family.

The Meetup: We'll meet at the Ciné Lumière box office at 6:15 pm, shortly before the screening begins at 6:30 pm in the main auditorium. You're welcome to choose your preferred seat.

After the film, we'll regroup at around 8:00 pm in the Ciné Lumière café for drinks, conversation and our usual discussion, where we'll share our thoughts and rate the film on Letterboxd.
