Just a few quick canyoneering announcements related to Boulder training, the Ouray Canyon Festival, and a heads up about two new training offerings near Grand Junction, CO and Moab, UT. IMPORTANT: These are cross posts - to attend, you need to RSVP in the links below.
Boulder Training: My first L1 course starts in a couple of weeks and as of right now, is not yet full. This is over Memorial Day weekend, so our optional Monday descent hopefully won't need any extra time off work: https://www.meetup.com/canyoneeringco/events/299828272/
(All my Boulder, CO canyoneering courses have also now been posted to https://www.meetup.com/canyoneeringco/events/ and https://uberadventures.net/events/ )Ouray Canyon Festival: Registrations are open, and we are expecting water levels to be average to below average this year - so some canyons may be in an easier mode and be accessible to more canyoneers. (Regardless, there's plenty of things to do around Ouray with hiking, via ferratas, 14'ers, biking, off-roading, etc. It's an amazing and beautiful area.) Note, prices will go up after June 30th. https://www.ouraycanyonfestival.org/
Grand Junction and Moab: Some new offerings for this year will be training courses in Grand Junction, CO in late Aug thru mid-Oct (likely 8/23, 9/20, 10/4 and 10/18 weekends.) I will also offer some advanced in-canyon training around Moab in the Sept-Oct timeframe. The Moab in-canyon training is meant to augment our normal training courses. Such as: Maybe you took a course, but haven't used the skills for a while and just want someone to descend a canyon with you and make sure no mistakes are made, along with advice on optimizations? Maybe you want to work on specific skill sets; like rescues, ghosting, or potholes? We'll be able to do this while descending canyons near Moab. In June, I'll post a survey to figure out which Grand Junction courses will best help the community, and will provide more info and start taking reservations for the in-canyon training.
Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks!
