What we’re about
The Hiking Hikers Hiking Group (“3H”), established in 2006, is one of the oldest outdoor activities groups in the Valley of the Sun. 3H is proud of the many hiking and other outdoor activity meetup groups that have been spun off from its original meetup model. 3H seeks, through its members and member volunteers, to provide a supportive, nurturing environment for people to enjoy and explore the outdoors; increase awareness of and protect beautiful wild places; and promote physical conditioning and encourage personal growth.
3H encourages its members, comprised of singles, committed couples and married couples from the early twenties to the late seventies and beyond, to be well-prepared for each event attended by taking personal responsibility for their own safety and educating themselves on the skills and knowledge needed to be safe in the many places near and far that this group visits.
Education, common sense, respect for others and the willingness to help, by all of us, provides a fun, safe, and positive experience for everyone.
Space here is limited, but lots more helpful 3H information can be found once you join at this link:

PLEASE NOTE: A dollar here, a dollar there, goes a long way. Everything at 3H is voluntary. If you would like to help support 3H, PayPal, Venmo or Zelle contributions to defray meetup expenses may be made at any time to 3hmeetup@gmail.com (Last 4 digits of phone 7923). All money raised will be used expressly for that purpose, and we will, from time to time, turn off this feature as we reach our reserve support goals. Thank you for your assistance in keeping 3H the great hiking community that it is!

I will be camping at the Hualapai Mountain Park Campground – Friday May 10th. On Saturday morning, I intend to hike the loop of four peaks within the park. This is a 12+ mile hike with 4,400’ of elevation gain following these ascent routes below showing the same route, but different distances.

https://peakbagger.com/climber/ascent.aspx?aid=2132107I will plan on going up earlier to get a camping spot and hike Peak 7745 on Friday. 4 miles and 1,200’ of gain – mostly on road/trail, with some light scrambling at the top. That mountain is separate from the other mountains because it sits on a ridge east of the campground.
On Saturday, the hike will be begin by 6:15am at the trailhead, about ¾ miles drive, above the campground. Plan for a 7-8 hour hike.
This is an advanced hike, and faster groups will stick together. However, slower folks are welcome to join but you are responsible for yourself on the trail and it is advised you have GPS on your person. The trail system is close to the campground, so it’s hard to get terribly lost.
Campsites are first-come, first-serve. This will be a popular weekend, but likely not as summer weekends. The cost to get vehicles to the park is $10 and camping is $30.READ THE FOLLOWING: The Organizer of this trip is a VOLUNTEER, not a "leader". The organizer IS NOT trained in first aid and is not a bonded expert mountain guide. You will need to bring your own experience and judgment. If you want to enjoy the benefits of traveling in a group, then we suggest that you stay with the group on the trip.
The waitlist is created to allow for hikers in the group who have demonstrated the ability for tougher hikes and consistency of showing up when they RSVP. Those who have RSVPed multiple times and have always cancelled or been a no-show will be moved to, or kept on the waitlist until others who are more likely to come are given an opportunity to RSVP. Organizers now have member history, and we know if you have no-showed in the past and what hikes you have joined. I will also try and add new people where appropriate. However, if on your profile you don’t have at least a first name and a clear profile photo, I may remove you from the Waitlist.
Assess the route and conditions as if you were going to do this trip solo.
About your organizer: My name is Dan. I moved to the Phoenix area in early 2017. I have organized over 200 hikes for various groups – including in Arizona, the Sierras, and Northern Nevada. I tend to choose mountain summits I have never done before. I do as much preparation and mapping as I can to ensure we take the correct trails. However, when driving to and hiking in a new area, there are always surprises and unknowns.
This hike is subject to cancellation or rescheduling due to inclement weather.
- Beverly Canyon to Javelina Hike7822 S 46th St., Phoenix, AZ
-
- Description: Join us for a scenic hike along the Beverly Canyon, Ridgeline and Javelina Trails on the north side of South Mountain. From Beverly Canyon, we will loop back via the Ridgeline and Javelina Trails. This will be a fairly fast-pace nonsweep hike. If you hike at a slow to moderate speed, we usually wait for a bit after the first couple of hills, but if you are significantly slower then the rest of the group I would recommend turning around since we try to hike as a group. I hope to see you there!
- Distance: About 4 miles (about 2 hours). A moderate hike. There are a few 400' climbs during the first 2 miles.
- Please bring good walking shoes, a flashlight, and water.
- Leashed dogs are fine on this hike.
