Classes are every Tuesday at The VAPA Center, 700 N. Tryon Street. Drop in classes are $15. Monthly passes can be purchased at www.shaemovement.org/booking
This meetup is a traditional West African Dance class with live drumming.
Although the class is centered around dance, you do not need extensive dance experience. Students who have never danced a day in their life will be fine in class. All levels and ages of students are welcome to participate.
Students should wear comfortable clothes in which it is easy to move but are definitely encouraged to wear African dance attire including lapas for women and socatos for men. A lapa is a large piece of material wrapped around the waist and socatos are droop seated pants.
