Summer update...

From: David

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to check in and see how everyone's summer was going.  We've had a great one so far, filled with some awesome rides.  I've really enjoyed meeting and riding with all our members, both new and old.  And I'm looking forward to many more rides with you all.  We may only have a few more weeks of usable daylight time left for evening riding but that just means we'll have to see you out more often on the weekend rides.  Another thing to look forward to in the darker times is night rides in the east bay.  David C. our east bay guru loves to show people a great ride in the dark.  The east bay parks are open to riding until 10pm.  So look for those special deals on lights and get ready for another great fall/winter riding season.

For those of you in the market for a new bike, or perhaps just getting your first mountain bike I've found an article in one of my favorite bike rags.

This article highlights a lot of the important things to look into and consider when shopping for that new ride.  If you are looking, I would strongly suggest keeping an eye out for bike demo days, where you get the chance to ride the trails on some of the bikes you may be considering.

Another thing to look forward to with SJMTB is more social events, such as movie nights, group diner outings, and various bike related events.  Biktoberfest is one such event that will be coming up very soon.  More details will follow on the meetup site, but I'll be out there tasting the different beers and taking in the various cycle sights.

I look forward to more exciting two wheeled adventure with the crew from SJMTB.

p.s. please reply to this message in the discussion forum.  Let's try and get the forum moving again.  It's kind of slowed down these last few months but it's a great place to ask questions of your fellow members or share pictures and stories of your adventures.  Also don't forget to post up a picture of your ride/rides.
