Bike Riding, Wine Festival, and Fun Day in Ojai

What??? Bike riding around a beautiful town, and then going to a wine festival??? In the same day??? Impossible!!! That’s too much fun! Yup! And that’s how we are going to welcome the summer this year.

Ojai is one of those rare little towns that feels like a hidden gem tucked away in California’s hills. Imagine a place where the air smells like lavender and orange blossoms, where the streets are lined with art galleries, cozy cafes, and Spanish-style architecture that gives the whole town this warm, rustic charm. It’s nestled against the backdrop of the Topatopa Mountains, creating a peaceful, almost storybook setting that invites you to slow down and soak it all in.

Every year, Ojai greets the summer with a wine festival. This year just so happens that June 21st is on a Saturday. So we’re going to do it all: Bike ride through that beautiful town in the morning, and then go have wine fun in the afternoon. And, if you know us, who knows what else we will feel like doing afterwards. We can stretch the day into the evening and have all the fun we can handle in one day!

THE PLAN

Some of us own bikes, and some of us don’t. So we will meet at The Mob Shop (110 W Ojai Ave, Ojai, CA 93023) when they open at 9:00am where people can rent bikes. They do sell out, so make sure to rent/reserve your bike in advance on their website.

We should be able to start riding at 9:30. We will ride to Forster Park and back, which is a 17 mile up and back, and should take us about 2 hours if we stop at the park to hang out. That will put us back in town at around 11:30. We can then grab something to eat in town, and be ready for the festival at around 12:30. The festival opens at 12:00 and goes until 4:00pm, but we don’t have to stop at 4:00. We can, but we don’t have to. :-D. We’ll see what we feel like doing. We can grab our bikes and go riding again and try not to fall on our faces, we can go walk around town to work out an appetite for dinner at Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill. A full day of fun to welcome the summer!

By the way, you can come at 12:00 just for the wine festival. You would miss half of the fun, but it's an option if you are a wino, but not a bike rider. :-D
