  • SHOPLUCK // OPEN HOUSE

    23b Shop

Once a month we get together to eat, drink, and share stores about our hacking adventures. Usually, there's a demonstration or show and tell of some sort. Something generally gets lit on fire, too. If you have something that needs fixing, bring it with you. It doesn't matter if it's electronic, hardware, or software related, we like a challenge. We may say no if it's too complicated, but we may say yes! In an attempt to avoid everyone bringing fried chicken (literally happened last month) below is a suggested menu that will provide enough food and drinks for 30 hungry hackers. • 3 People Bringing Appetizers (1 appetizer = 20-30 small servings) • 3 People Bringing Main Dishes (1 main dish = 9x13 pan or 12 pieces (i.e. chicken)) • 6 People Bringing Side Dishes (1 side dish = approx. 5 cups) • 3 People Bringing Bread (1 bread = 1 loaf or 12 rolls, sourdough, cornbread, etc.) • 3 People Bringing Dessert (2 dozen cookies, 1 cake/pie, 1 tray of brownies, etc.) • 2 People Bringing Beverages (2 gallons or 3 two-liters) • 1 Person Bringing Cups, Plates & Napkins • 1 Person Bringing Utensils Please leave a comment with the item(s) you would like to bring (i.e. Appetizer, Main Dish, Side, Bread, etc.). If you would like to bring an item that has already been covered like a 4th main dish feel free. Just comment it below to let is know. We look forward to seeing everyone and remember to bring your friends so we can blow their minds!

  • 23b Howl-O-Ween Party

    23b Shop

Time to Trick or Treat Yo Self at this year's Halloween party! That's right, everybody; 23bShop is once again hosting a night of pure parking lot awesome, in the most hackeresque way possible. Grab a friend, grab a costume, grab your favorite killamajig, and head on over to the shop for a weird night of explosions, electricity, and entropy. What do we have planned this year: Well, we've got..... ------------------------------------- COSTUME CONTESTS ------------------------------------- This year we will be having an actual contest for everyone who comes in costume. The awards will be presented at 10pm. We will have a few different types of awards to shoot for: *BEST COSTUME *MOST DISTURBING *JUDGE'S CHOICE ------------------------------------- PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST (BYOP!) ------------------------------------- Bring a pumpkin, and get to carving! Use a traditional knife, or don't. Yep, that's right, you get to use your hacker imagination on this one (Hint: entertain the crowd... but we may have to tackle you if you go too far). Carving will begin at 8pm, and judging will begin after everyone has finished. There will be 3 categories of winners here: *BEST PUMPKIN *CREATIVELY CARVED *JUDGE'S CHOICE ------------------------------------- DRINKS ------------------------------------- Bring a Bottle (there is a liquor store on-site) This event will not have an official bottle-share event, BUT as is tradition for the group, one seems to usually become self-aware sometime in the evening. Bring something to share, and you will probably be rewarded by your peers ------------------------------------- BRING RANDOM PARTY STUFF ------------------------------------- 23bShop parties are usually open to allowing whatever you want at them. We will have music for the night, flaming-giant-jenga, a fire pit (maybe). So yeah, as long as it's legal, feel free to bring things to show off or just play around with. Last time, we had a giant singing tesla coil, and one year somebody brought a bounce house. Yeah. I know. It was just as awesome as you are picturing. The Hopping Hackers' House.

  • MAGlab Open House Party

    MAG Laboratory

Our sister Hackerspace, MAG Laboratory in Pomona, is restarting their monthly Open House Party on the 2nd Saturday of every month! Let's show our support by bringing all of our 23beople to to the party! We're planning on having Tesla coils, off-road combat robots from Wasteland Weekend, Giant Hammer Jenga, drones, 3d printers, chiptunes, free BBQ, and maybe even a glowing electric pickle! Given the wind, we might even have "EZ-UP kite flying", whether we want to or not! Bring a beverage and a snack to share, and maybe something fun to demo or share. Or just bring yourself and show everybody how to have a good time.
