Venture into Carnaby St, Chinatown, Old Compton St and see a Wren church, a Colcutt Theatre (he's the bloke who did the Savoy and Wigmore Hall) and a chip shop that sprung the careers of a number of household names - though it wasn't a chip shop then.

Here we have an area cram full of an arty, edgy and seedy past which has given us everything from Mozart to Johnny Rotten, from Karl Marx to the Groucho Marx and a whole host of drinkers, jazzers and rebel-rousers.......

Rede lights, rocknroll, rabble rousers and ragamuffins - they've all hung out here!
