The Jewish community have an intriguing and often surprising history in this country, dating back to at least the time of William the Conqueror - and in my opinion, well beyond that. And, as with everywhere else in Europe, the majority wound up in the capital.
This is a walking tour around one of London's most buzzing and character-filled areas and one that has often been the landing place for immigrants new to the city. I will show you one of the oldest synagogues in Europe, a beautiful soup kitchen, a sculpture that should melt your hearts and introduce you to a variety of colourful characters - if I'm in the mood i may even sing but don't let that put you off!
Meet 11-11.15 am Aldgate Tube Station and finishing by Liverpool Street station where there are plenty of cafes for those who wish to continue socialising and , for those who fancy a boozy lunch(or just a coffee), you can join me in one of my favourite pubs.
Guided walk £14 - payable on the day
