Brunel Museum Tour and Rotherhithe Walk

Details

Join me for a walk around my Rotherhithe neighbourhood followed by a guided tour of the Brunel Museum.

Charles Dickens frequented what used to be Rotherhithe’s dark and dangerous streets to see poverty up close. Rotherhithe’s Old Mortuary figures in the first chapter of his last novel, Our Mutual Friend. And in 1620 The Mayflower set sail from Rotherhithe Village and changed history.

The Brunel Museum tells the story behind the Thames Tunnel - the world's oldest underwater tunnel - and those who built it. Visit the main museum exhibition in the Engine House and then head underground to see the spectacular Tunnel Shaft which once served as the Grand Entrance Hall for Victorian visitors (including Queen Victoria).

Free entrance to the Brunel Museum and the Grand Entrance Hall is included in the price.

Meet at 13.30 at Rotherhithe Station (Windrush Line) for a walk around the neighbourhood followed by the guided tour of the Brunel Museum at 14.15. Join me for a drink and/or food in a local pub after the tour.
