What we're about

This meetup is ideal for those looking to improve their mental health, build friendships and explore the magical Irish countryside. It is also a perfect fit for HR professionals looking to arrange some team building days. Very few things build teams quicker than having your team-mate supporting you as you climb the walls, experiencing all of the highs and lows that come with it.
We will run a mix of mental health workshops, hillwalking events, Rock Climbing and team-building days. Some are full weekends, some are 1 hour.
Why not join us and experience the wonder of the community in action.

Walking weekend - Donegal

Needs a location

Dates- 14th, 15th, 16th January 2022

Things to know -
The walks involve a degree of incline throughout and some rough terrain underfoot. Proper Hiking footwear with ankle support is required to participate. We will be taking our time and soaking in the views so there will be opportunities for breaks throughout.
For Saturday we are planning on covering 3 Main mountains over 2 separate locations so people will have choice on whether to climb the 3rd peak. Each location is between 2 and 3.5 hours walking.

We will leave Sunday open to suggestions with some options for smaller walks, sightseeing or relaxing. It all depends on how people are feeling.

How much does it cost?
- Cost for the weekend is €230 if booked before the end of 2021. This is to ensure that there is enough funds available to cover the initial costs of accommodation. From 1st January 2022 this will go up to €250

How to Pay?
- We take payment via our website, you can access it through the following link
https://abptraining.ie/product/hiking-weekend-away-ireland

What do you get for the cost?
We believe in value for money so here is what you get :
- Accommodation for 2x nights
- Breakfast for 2 Days (Continental breakfast on Saturday, Fry up options for Sunday)
- Dinner / Drinks on the Saturday evening
- Transport to and from the accommodation / Carpooling from Dublin and Surrounding Areas
- Guided Walks around the stunning Irish Mountains
- Lunches Provided for Saturday / Sunday (Make your own style from a range of ingredients)
- An Opportunity to experience Donegal’s iconic landscape with like minded people.

Rations & Supplies
As we will be walking away from shops and restaurants, we recommend bringing a packed lunch for each walk. We will supply the makings of sandwiches and light Lunches on the Saturday / Sunday morning, so please let us know if there are any allergies/ specific food requirements.
A supply of water to keep you hydrated is also recommended We will have a supply of bottled water at the accomodation. Hats / Gloves and an additional clothing layer will also come in useful as it can get particularly cold at heights. Walking Poles can make the terrain a little easier to navigate, although not essentential for this trip.
Clothing

Walking Boots with good ankle support are required as the terrain will often take us off trails and onto rough mountain terrain. For the safety of everyone involved we will not allow anyone on the walk without good hiking footwear, particularly ankle support. As with all walking there is still a chance of a twisted ankle or worse. If this happens, a nice leisurely walk becomes a rescue.
A set of waterproof Rain Gear is Recommended, as it is Ireland and somewhat unpredictable. When we get wet it sucks the temperature (and the mood) out of our bodies 25 times quicker than if we were dry.
Cotton or denim get very cold when wet, but wools, lycra and thermal lairs tend to stay warmer.
During COVID times we will try to keep distance where possible. There may be times that this is not possible so please have a face mask with you to wear if needed.

Medical Conditions and Allergies-
If you suffer from any allergies or medical conditions that may affect you throughout the event, we would ask to inform the event leader on the day. Also please to bring any emergency medication with you and let somebody know how to access it. We won’t be able to prevent something from happening if we don’t know about it.

Transport-
We will be looking to carpool up to the accommodation site, where each driver that can take 2 passenger will be fully reimbursed for any transport costs.
We will arrange separate transport to and from the local town when drinks are involved.
