Ace Makerspace Tour
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USThis tour goes all the way through the 6 rooms at Ace! Your tour guide will take you through all the basics and can provide help signing up as a member.
Please DO NOT arrive more than 5 min. early or late as we will not be able to accommodate extra tours or early starts.
If you get here really early there is a beer garden on the corner that serves a great pint or lemonade.
Please note that there are stairs involved.

Jointer, Planer, Table Saw Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Ace makerspace, 6050 Lowell St., Ste. 214, Oakland, CA, USThe Table Saw, Jointer, and Planer are core woodworking tools that are great for beginner and veteran woodworkers. This workshop goes over the core principles of using these tools in the Ace Workshop including certification.

Learn how to safely operate the following tools in the Ace Workshop:- Table Saw
- Jointer
- Planer
What to bring: A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes.
What to wear: Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves, and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back.
Safety Gear: Eye protection, ear protection, and sanitizer will be provided. You can also bring your own.This class requires a minimum of 3 students per session. If there are not enough students, we can issue a refund, otherwise refunds are not allowed.

Serger Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace

Level up your sewing skills with this class on using a Serger (aka Overlock) sewing machine. This class covers all the basics of using this fun but complex sewing machine. Serging is a great way to sew garments especially stretch fabrics and have great finish.
Level: Beginner
Timing: 2 Hours
Location: Coworking/Textiles suite 206
Prerequisites: Sewing 101, or basic sewing machine experience
Certification: Certification on the Ace Juki Sergers
Age: 18+We will review how this machine functions including how to read the manual. There will be hands on practice with threading for 3-Thread Overlock, Changing the needle and sewing a variety of fabric types. Troubleshooting, working with a differential feed and tensioning will also be reviewed.
Successful completion of this class qualifies folks to use the Juki MO-655N Sergers that Ace has in our Textiles studio.
This is not a bring your own machine class.What to Bring: If you wear glasses, please make sure to bring them.

Laser Basics and Certification

Age: 14+This class is for good folks new to operating a laser or needing certification. It does not cover file preparation in detail. This workshop is part lecture and review and part practical experience.
