Shop Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USYour Ace Makerspace Woodworking and Metalworking experience starts here! First, get up to speed on shop etiquette and learn the ins and outs of sharing tools and space at Ace Makerspace. This one-hour certification class is required for ALL Wood and Metal Shop users.
Level: Beginner to Expert
Timing: 1 hour

Certification: Ace Shop Basics (required to use the Ace Shops)

Metal Shop Basics
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USIn this class you will learn the basic tools of the metal shop:
- Bench Grinder
- Horizontal band saw (drop saw)
- Sander
- Miters
- Files
- Gauges
- Calipers
Also learn about shop safety and ventilation. No open toed shoes.
Instructor: Brian ElderBrian recently joined Ace to share his experience teaching metal shop as a grad student. Fresh off the doctoral grind, he is excited to give back to the maker community that inspired him to pursue mechanical engineering and gave him a thirst for learning. Brian loves to dive head-first into a wide variety of disciplines; from machining, woodworking and sewing, to robotics, programming and 3D printing!

Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USThis tour goes all the way through the 6 rooms at Ace! Your tour guide will take you through all the basics and can provide help signing up as a member.
Please DO NOT arrive more than 5 min. early or late as we will not be able to accommodate extra tours or early starts.
If you get here really early there is a beer garden on the corner that serves a great pint or lemonade.
Please note that there are stairs involved.

Jointer, Planer, Table Saw Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Ace makerspace, 6050 Lowell St., Ste. 214, Oakland, CA, USThe Table Saw, Jointer, and Planer are core woodworking tools that are great for beginner and veteran woodworkers. This workshop goes over the core principles of using these tools in the Ace Workshop including certification.
Level: Beginner

Certifications: Jointer, Planner, and Table Saw
