Cutting Metal Basics: Hot and Cold methods

Introduction to the oxygen-acetylene cutting torch, plasma cutting torch, horizontal band saw, and angle grinders at DSC. This class provides a basic safety orientation for hot work in a shared shop environment. We will discuss basics of setting up and using each tool so that you don't hurt yourself or the machines.

If you have a project in mind of something you would like to cut out, please bring in what you have as far as drawings or designs.

There will be a $60 materials and tuition fee charged when you sign up. Each person will get some steel and have a chance to cut something out using each method. Cutting specific personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, some to keep.
