About us
If you read romance and erotica. If you live, work, or play in Park Slope. Then this is the book club for you! This is the sister to Manhattan's Smutty Book Club and International (aka Virtual) Smutty Book Club. We read, talk, laugh, eat and drink.
It has come to our attention that someone has been using the name of Smutty Book Club and its organizers to invite people to for-profit events. Smutty Book Club (SBC) & Brooklyn Smutty Book Club (BSBC) are strictly social clubs and do not profit off of events. No fees are collected to participate in SBC or BSBC. All official Club events will always be listed on the Meetup.com website. All Club communication will come through the Meetup.com website. If you receive any solicitation for an event or receive communication outside of Meetup, asking for a fee - it is a SCAM. Please let us know if you have any concerns. Thank you
Brooklyn Smutty Book Club is in-person. We meet at Paddy's of Park Slope.
Paddy's makes great drinks, but they don't serve food. Feel free to bring your dinner or order in!

BROOKLYN Smutty Book Club - Stalked by the Kraken by Lillian Lark
Paddy's of Park Slope, 273 13th Street, Brooklyn, NY, USThank you to Paddy for breaking the first ever double tie vote. The runner up book is listed at the bottom of this message.
The book for July is recommended by Sarah - Stalked by the Kraken by Lillian Lark. She says it's about a human woman and a male shifter Kraken with tentacles. It has zero angst, lots of spice, and hits that Morning Glory sweet spot of humor an smut.
Quick housekeeping note: Scammers have been using the name of Smutty Book Club and its organizers to invite people to for-profit events. If you receive any solicitation for an event or receive communication outside of Meetup asking for money, then it is a scam. Please let us know if you see anything suspicious.
Fun housekeeping note: Our annual trip to the Renaissance Festival will be on Saturday, September 26th. We will post the event on Meetup shortly.
Ok back to Stalked by the Kraken. Here's what the publisher says:
A matchmaking witch, an ancient sea creature, and the sex contract they make. Welcome to the Love Bathhouse where desire and acceptance are in the water.
The Witch: Celibacy is a bad look for a matchmaker. Especially a matchmaker who works at the kind of paranormal bathhouse that would have grandmothers clutching their pearls. A worse look is a matchmaker experiencing a crisis of confidence.
I am that matchmaker. We need raw magic, desperately. And now a mysterious man walks into my office, offering me the exact solution I need. The problem is that he wants to be matched… with me.
Matching doesn’t work for me; I found that out the hard way.
The Kraken: I saw her and the creature inside me wanted. She doesn’t want a relationship. She says that the most we can have are the three nights she promised me, but the dark part of myself isn’t going to let the woman who snared its attention go. I found her. I hunted her. She’s mine.
**Stalked by the Kraken is a monster romance that features tentacles. This book is a standalone and takes place in the same world as, and prior to the events of, Three of Hearts with some character crossover.
Content Warning: Book includes breeding behavior and mentions infertility. Please note: Paddy's of Park Slope serves plenty of drinks, but does not serve food. They welcome people to bring in food, or order in.
In June we repeatedly split 50/50 on the books. The tied book was recommended by Amanda - Find Your Harem Monster Manor by Ellen Mint. It's a choose your own adventure with a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf. Although we aren't reading it this month, you might still want to check it out.
See you soon at Brooklyn Smutty Book Club.
