About us
Welcome to Bay Area Hiking, Walking, Wellness Club!
Where Healthy Living Meets Lifelong Friendships and Love!
Our club is all about embracing a healthy lifestyle, nurturing a positive mindset, and reveling in the beauty of nature. If you're someone who enjoys Green Exercise outdoor workouts, and can hike/walk 5-8 miles without health issues (do consult your personal physician), we invite you to join us.
Here's what makes us special:
*Transformative Events: Our club events bring people together, fostering new friendships and even sparking love stories. The benefits are profound, including better health, reduced stress, and the end of isolation.
*Safety First: Your well-being is our top priority. We strictly follow CDC guidelines and protocols. If you're feeling unwell, we kindly ask you to wait until you're better to join us.
For everyone's safety and convenience, we encourage carpooling among those who know each other well.
*Stunning Locations: We're fortunate living in the bay area to have shaded forests, mountain trails, and beach walks with amazing ocean sunsets nearby. Your suggestions for new areas to explore are always welcome.
*Convenient Scheduling: Enjoy our thoughtfully scheduled events, mostly in the late morning, afternoon, and evenings, to fit your personal schedule. Allowing you to get your beauty sleep, and even your morning 'errands' are merely a stylish sprint to fetch that perfect breakfast or cup of coffee.
*Inclusivity: Whether you're reuniting with old friends or looking to meet new people while exercising outdoors, you'll find a warm and welcoming community here.
**How does nature nurture the brain? **After a 60-minute walk in nature, activity in brain regions involved in stress processing decreases...
Mental health prescription: Nature
Being in nature can boost your mood and improve mental health. Spending quality time in the great outdoors reduces stress, calms anxiety, and can lead to a lower risk of depression, according to a study done by researchers at Stanford University. In addition to having mental health benefits, being outdoors opens up your senses to your surroundings and improves your sensory perception. Taking in the sights, smells, and feelings of nature has so many health benefits it can even be prescribed by a doctor.
Our Club events have a very positive impact on people's lives, people meet, fall in love💘 meet new friends, HAPPY, better health, less stress, anxiety, depression, isolate being alone and got extra bonus for LOVE 💞
*Note: We appreciate your support to keep our club thriving. Your donation/contribution helps cover our costs and enhance our meetups.

🇺🇲 4th of July Hike – Stars, Stripes, and Sturdy Shoes!
Get ready to hike with style and sparkle this Independence Day!
We’re trading fireworks for fresh air and flags for trail markers – but we still want to keep the spirit alive!Throwback to last year’s epic sandstone shots! This year, we're heading back to the Redwoods for our annual 4th of July tradition. The permit is secured, and the burgers at Alice's are waiting. Who’s ready to trade fireworks for fresh air?
Tafoni Sandstone Monolith, Redwood City, California
This unique formation appears as though an asteroid landed on the forest.THIS UNIQUE FORMATION WAS CRAFTED over thousands of years due to a unique weathering process known as tafoni. It has created a honeycomb pattern that is a marvelous sight. From afar, it appears as though a skull has fallen from the sky. Standing next to this natural wonder certainly will make visitors feel small.
It is unclear of the etymology of the word “Tafoni.” It may be Italian in origin for the word for holes, taffoni, or perforations, tafonare. Also, it could be derived from the Greek word for tomb, taphos.
These geological formations can be found throughout the world, but are inclined to be in areas that are intertidal, consisting of semi-arid and dry conditions. The variations of levels of freezing and drying of moisture helps create what looks like a honeycomb effect.### Tafoni Rock Formations
From the Tafoni Trail visitors to this preserve can see unique sandstone formations called Tafoni. Cave-like indentations and delicate honeycomb structures are formed in the sandstone by just the right combination of weather and atmospheric conditions.
It takes hundreds of years for tafoni to form. Please admire these fascinating geologic features from the observation deck and not climb the rocks so that others may enjoy them for years to come.

Cowell-Purisima Trail, just south of Half Moon Bay, is a 3.6-mile gently graded path that winds along bluffs where farmland meets the Pacific Ocean. It’s a part of the California Coastal Trail, which will one day span the entire length of the state. This area contains both beach and coastal scrub ecosystems. Keep your eyes open for harbor seals, pelicans, hawks and wildflowers along your way.
It's an easy-to-moderate hike with mostly flat, wide, gravel/dirt sections, but has a small section with elevation change as it crosses Purisima Creek. The trail offers scenic views of the Pacific Ocean, farmland, and abundant wildlife, with access points at both northern and southern trailheads.
Trail details
Length: 7.2 miles roundtrip (3.6 miles one-way)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Surface: Wide, gravel and dirt path
Elevation: Mostly flat, with a short, steep descent into Purisima Creek's canyon
Features: Ocean views, farmland, harbor seals, pelicans, and wildflowers
Season: Year-round, but fall is particularly nice

It's truly a destination trail. It offers sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, access to several beaches and excellent nature viewing. Bird watching is quite good and a popular activity here. Red-tailed hawks, blue herons and red-winged blackbirds are spotted frequently, and large hawks can often be seen perched on benches and the trail's split-rail fence.
