- Alkimos Beach Sewing and Crafts
Join us as we reuse old sheets, duvets, pilowcases, tablecloths and even reluv old projects. We make funky material bags to take shopping instead of plastic bags as Boomerang Bags. But we also make joey pouches, Uthanda dolls, premmie baby clothes for WA hospitals. We support local community needs by getting together over a cuppa and have a small imprint locally, within our state and Australia wide plus an international presence. So far our Alkimos group has made over 3000 bags, saved manchester from landfill, responded passionately to wildife injured by bushfires, sending 5 sachels of pouches & medical supplies to NSW, then toasted our achievements with a good coffee and a tiny (in my opinion) piece of cake. We meet weekly on a Wednesday at Alkimos pop up library from 9.30am to 11.30pm. Please come & join us
- Mums + Bubs Fitness (Online)
Come join a lively fitness session for mothers and their gorgeous babies! Joanna, a mother of 3 boys, decided to support those impacted by COVID19. Through her role as trainer with Kanga training, Joanna has championed community spirit and committed to supporting vulnerable mums and bubs throughout this time by offering free, weekly post-natal safe 'mums and bubs fitness programs' delivered through live online Zoom classes. Kanga training is a fitness class designed for postnatal women to help them safely return to exercise, strengthen their core muscles and pelvic floor while listening to awesome music and having a dance. Babies are worn in carriers so mums can enjoy their fun workout ‘hands-free’ and they are usually covered by sleepy dust at the end of the session! ______ During these online fitness sessions you will enjoy working out from the comfort of your own home. This is not a one-on-one session but rather an opportunity to explore healthy living as a mum. Each attendee will need to complete an online health questionnaire prior to their first fitness session. This will be sent to you via your Meetup Inbox. If you would like in-person sessions or more tailored sessions where you can ask questions, please head to Joanna’s page : https://www.facebook.com/kangatrainingcanning/ _____ Each session lasts for a full one hour. We begin with a gentle aerobic warm up exercise while holding baby in our arms, then we move on to floor exercises, where baby is either part of the exercise or lying on the mat next to Mum. Next we place babies in the carriers for choreographed cardio dance, arm & bar work ending with repeaters. The session concludes with pelvic floor exercises and gentle stretching. Things to prepare before class: - Water bottle - Baby Carrier (if you have one that is suitable) - Non-stretchy scarf (for floor work) - Yoga mat _____ Our digital fitness space will be on Zoom.
