What we're about

If you don't believe in supernatural entities or powers, if you are concerned about religious intolerance or religiously motivated violence, if you rely on human reasoning and science to guide your decisions and behavior, if you have a naturalistic view of the world, or you just don't believe in God or gods, you are not alone. The Boulder Atheists group provides presentations, meetings, and serves as a social community for atheists, agnostics, rationalists, secular humanists, Brights, and free thinkers in and around Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Broomfield, and surrounding communities in Northern Colorado.

Boulder Atheists wish to promote the understanding and acceptance of atheism with public education, good deeds, public activities and affiliations with other local and national secular groups. We have regular monthly meetings on the fourth Sunday of each month at the Boulder Creek Room at the Boulder Public Library. We also schedule regular social events such as our Thursday lunches at 12:30 PM at a restaurant in Boulder, a monthly evening social, Summer and Winter Solstice socials, and Movie Nights.

Our events will be posted on the Meetup calendar and on the Events page of our website. All of our events are open to the public.

Please visit our official website at http://www.boulderatheists.org/ for additional information and links.

You can join us as a full member by going to This Page (http://www.boulderatheists.org/donate.html) and clicking on the Donate Link under "Become a Member".

Note: Since not all of our community members use Meetup, the attendance numbers listed here may not reflect the total number of people attending the events.

The lunch gathering starts at 12:30 pm. and continues into the afternoon. Please RSVP if you intend to come. PLEASE NOTE: We often see several people stop in during the afternoon regardless of what the RSVP count on Meetup.com says. Some of the regulars are not frequent Internet users. All are welcome. Then, relax with a cup of coffee on your way home from work or after your long lunch at 3 Margaritas, starting at 4:00. We usually have good discussions on just about any topic. Since they close at 6, some of us wander over to the Cork to catch Happy Hour and keep the conversation going. Join us!

BA Monthly Meeting - Heathen Comedy Show and Creekfest Preparations

Boulder Public Library - Main Library

What is Heathen Humor? We'll show some comedy video shorts, tell atheist jokes, and perform a comedy skit. WARNING: We will take no prisoners and celebrate the absurdity of religion. Videos will include George Carlin, Creationist Cosmos, a Southpark clip, and a clip from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We will tell atheist jokes and anyone is welcome to bring and read some favorite secular comedy. We'll discuss what makes heathen comedy different. After the break we'll do a comedy soap opera skit called "No God Left Behind, Episode 1" written by Tom and other members of Church of the Nones. 5 volunteers from the audience will each get a part to read. The characters are Zeus, Thor, Jesus, Science, and the Devil. Tom will play the narrator. Yes, there will be light costumes and bar props. The story takes place in a bar up in the clouds, reminiscent of Cheers, where Satin is the bartender. Has-been gods are commiserating together after being replaced by newer gods. Zeus is replaced by Thor, who is replaced by Jesus, who is replaced by Science. When Science walks in the bar, the gods can't believe it and ask, "Science, who replaced you?" We'll also talk about the Boulder Creek Festival booth that we do every year for years, and how you can volunteer to help party with us and talk to passers-by about the good word of Atheism. Snacks and beverages will be served. We'll be in the Eldorado Room on the first floor. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Our regular monthly meeting features a presentation of interest to Atheism and Humanism. We may have a really good guest speaker, show videos, have group discussions, explore controversial subjects, and more. We usually meet in one of the meeting rooms on the south of the main branch of the Boulder Public Library at 10th and Arapahoe.

After our monthly meetings at the Boulder Public Library, we always walk over to the Med Restaurant for Lunch. We need a better head count, so please RSVP if you plan to attend--so we can make reservations in advance (if you forget to RSVP and still want to go, you can do it at the meeting). Thanks.
