What we’re about
If you don't believe in supernatural entities or powers, if you are concerned about religious intolerance or religiously motivated violence, if you rely on human reasoning and science to guide your decisions and behavior, if you have a naturalistic view of the world, or you just don't believe in God or gods, you are not alone. The Boulder Atheists group provides presentations, meetings, and serves as a social community for atheists, agnostics, rationalists, secular humanists, Brights, and free thinkers in and around Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Broomfield, and surrounding communities in Northern Colorado.
Boulder Atheists wish to promote the understanding and acceptance of atheism with public education, good deeds, public activities and affiliations with other local and national secular groups. We strive to be inclusive to ALL and promote gender equality, LGBTQ equality and racial justice.

See all- Monthly Presentation: Decoding the Universe - Quantum MechanicsBoulder Public Library - Main Library, Boulder, CO
Quantum mechanics (QM) is a branch of physics that deals with the behavior of matter and light at the atomic and subatomic levels. When we look at the world at these tiny scales, things get weird – very weird. Particles behave in ways that are counter-intuitive and may even seem impossible. Actions on one side of the galaxy can instantly affect something on the other, as if the space between them didn’t exist.
Yet, for all its weirdness, QM has revealed more about the universe, from stars to mere dust, than we've ever known before. QM is the foundation of all modern physics and technology. It’s what makes lasers, transistors, and the digital technologies we enjoy work. QM is also the basis for the powerful quantum sensors and computers of tomorrow.
We will be watching a NOVA program on QM (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t06aTX9jM34). Afterward, Clyde Zaidins, PhD, will answer questions about QM. We'll be in the Eldorado Room on the first floor to the right of the elevator.

- Colorado Secular Advocacy Team (American Atheists)Link visible for attendees
Are you concerned about religion creeping farther into politics? Do you want to help make sure that Colorado does not pass some of the religiously motivated legislation that other states have passed such as laws curtailing reproductive freedom, anti LGBTQ laws, and giving religious groups more special privileges and exemptions? If so, come and join us.
We have joined with the American Atheist organization to form the Colorado Secular Advocacy Team. The team is now open to adding new members. Come and see what we are about!
