• Boulder Creek Festival Booth

    Needs a location

Shifts are two hours each and you can sign up for multiple shifts and on more than one day. After you RSVP to this meetup, use this to sign up for a shift https://signup.com/go/tCVakTt. Prior to the event, Host guides and talking points will be sent out to all who sign up.

The Boulder Creek Festival is on this year and will be held over Memorial Day weekend, May 28 - 30. at the downtown Boulder Library. We're going to have our usual booth and volunteers are needed to staff it. Join us at the booth and engage with passersby to talk about atheism and the Boulder Atheists. Most everyone who stops by is very friendly and curious about what we do. There needs to be at least two people in the booth at all times, but the more the merrier. It's a lot of fun and our biggest social event of the year!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!!

  • Hybrid Monthly Meeting...How to Teach and Present

    Needs a location

Make your PowerPoint pop and your teaching titillate. Mike Jaqua will give some tips and tools to use on your road to TED talks. (When you get to that, please put in a good word for me.)

Mike's background in teaching and presenting include:

    • More than 10 years of experience creating teaching tools for professional audiences.
    • Many presentations on scientific research.
    • Four years teaching to students ranging from 7th grade to college.
    • Over 2 years helping graduate students learn to become better teachers.
    • A minor in education and a teaching certificate (expired) from the state of Arizona.

This will be an opportunity to learn some basic teaching strategies that can help your audience remember what you want to convey to them.

You will also learn about many of the tools available in PowerPoint. Soon you will be creating presentations of your own that are lively, fun, clear, and memorable.

With all this knowledge and wisdom in your presentation portfolio you'll become a top tier teacher. You will be remembered for millennia, just like Socrates. (Umm, not so sure about that last. Try getting a group of students, then teach them atheism, then drink some hemlock.)

After the meeting we will go to Rio Grande for food/drink. Meet there around 3:15.

Please sign up soon! Community Food Share likes to have the list 3 days before the event so they can plan for us. Let's fill the event (10 slots) with folks who are making the commitment to attend in order to show that Atheists can be counted on for community service.

Group members usually go to a restaurant to eat after the event.
