This class takes ring-making to a new level. We'll look at different styles of ring shanks and multiple adornments for your cabochon. Learn different bezel techniques as well as cabochon setting. De-mystify silver soldering and pick up little tips that will make all the difference as you apply these techniques to your work. This class will boost your confidence in using a torch and creating beautiful rings you can be proud of.

We’ll discuss picking cabochons and what to look for when purchasing a cab. Learn how to silver solder, sweat solder, texturing techniques and polishing/finishing. Learn how to work with a heavy (20 gauge) bezel, chisel and cut it, then make an overlay shank and set the cab
About the Instructor
Jeff says, "I stated making jewelry when I was 16, cuz I wanted a silver and turquoise bracelet." Artist Jeff Fulkerson has been creating stunning, imaginative jewelry for over 30 years.
A contributing artist to Lapidary Journal’s Jewelry Artist Magazine (http://www.jewelryartistmagazine.com/archive/february-2010.cfm), his work has also been seen in Art Jewelry Magazine. Jeff is a recipient of the Courtney McGowan Design Award as well as a blue ribbon award winner for his jewelry in design and construction at the San Diego County Fair. Some of his awards include Best Educational Exhibit, Coordinator’s Cup (2005 and 2009), and Best Single Jewelry Piece (2005 and 2009). His meticulous execution and attention to detail is becoming well known among industry professionals.
Prerequisites/Skills Needed: Previous silver soldering experience is helpful

Sterling silver sheet and fine silver bezel wire
*Materials kit purchase is required for all our workshops. The kit insures all students have the same tools and materials require to learn the technique and allows the instructor and the students to focus on the technique rather than the materials.
Materials students need to bring:
Cabochon (Instructor will have some for sale at time of class), bench block, files, straight edge, sharpie, rawhide mallet, scribe (awl), jeweler's saw w/#2/0 blades, Solder: hard, medium and easy, Cut off wheels, Dividers, Bezel pusher, Burnisher, Prong pusher.
Suggested but NOT Required: ring mandrel, texturing hammers, brass mallet, stamps, ring finger gauge (sizer)

Number of Seats: Maximum ten students. All participants will be required to sign a waiver.
CANCELLATION POLICY You may cancel up to 10 business days prior to the start of the class and receive a full refund, less $10 processing. Cancellations 5-10 business days prior to the start of the class are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations occurring less than 5 business days prior to the start date will not be refunded. In the event we have to cancel a class, you will be notified prior to the start date and will be issued a full refund.

Heavy Bezel Ring
