Boulder Ramblers is a program area of Colorado-based Walk2Connect (http://www.Walk2Connect.com). We provide free community walking, hiking, and rambling trips in and throughout Boulder County, CO, with a focus on connections to others, to the places we live, and to ourselves.

Shanahan Ridge/Mesa Trail Loop Hike

Lehigh St & Lafayette Dr

TYPE: Hike | PACE: Fitness/Conversational | TERRAIN: Dirt trails | DISTANCE: Approx. 3 miles | Walk Description: This hike follows a scenic loop on the Shanahan Ridge Trail and the Mesa Trail in South Boulder. Depending on the weather and trail conditions, we will either walk the entire Shanahan Ridge-Mesa Trail loop (3.2 miles) or the shorter Shanahan Connector loop (2.4 miles), both of which offer a good workout and great views. It's an invigorating hike to jump-start your day. Come out for a moderately paced walk and good company! Great Options for Getting There: Take the Skip bus to the Lafayette stop, or drive and park along Lehigh. Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching (http://walk2connect.com/darcykitching/) is a professional member-owner of the Walk2Connect Co-op and the Walk2Connect Boulder program manager. Trip Notes: ~ Well-socialized and well-behaved dogs are welcome on short leashes (no retractable leashes, please). Please be sure your dog will be comfortable on this longer walk. ~ Dress comfortably for the weather, bring sun protection and water, and anything else you need to stay comfortable outside. Cancellation Policy: This event will take place regardless of the weather, unless there is a major snowstorm, excessive ice or other dangerous weather. About Boulder Ramblers: The Colorado-based Walk2Connect Cooperative works with individuals and organizations to create innovative walking programs focused on connecting to others, to place and to self. TYPE: STSP | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Paved and Dirt Trail | DISTANCE: 3.5 miles Walk Description: Get your morning evening walk and get ready for the weekend by the lake. We walk at a casual pace and invite all fitness levels to join us. The trail will let us explore the natural beauty of the mountains and birds. This is a bi-lingual (Spanish and English) walk. Walking Movement Leader: My name is Cherry G. Dominguez. I’m the oldest of five girls. I was born in Denver and raised in Longmont. I’m happily married for 19 years and have two wonderful daughters and two Chihuahua dogs. I work full-time for as a medical assistant. One of my hobbies is teaching Aqua Zumba through the Longmont Rec Center. I’ve taken walking and hiking as an enjoyable exercise to connect with nature and my community. Thank you for being part of my journey. Schedule: We will meet at 7:00PM at the parking lot of Jim Hamm Nature Area. We leave NO LATER than 7:05 PM. and will finish no later than 08:30 PM. We will do brief introduction, sign waivers, and a warm-up. Trip Notes:~ Well-behaved dogs are allowed. Share your passion for walking, connecting with your neighbors, learning about your community, and promoting health and well-being: become a Walk2Connect Walking Movement Leader! Learn how to design and lead your own walks in Boulder and beyond. The Walk2Connect Cooperative empowers individuals, community groups and businesses to bring Life@3MPH into everything they do, building a more human and connected world through walking. Our training prepares people to facilitate connection-focused walks throughout Colorado and beyond, taking steps with us toward: • Offering more community walking trips that connect people with others, with the places they experience, and with themselves, thereby building an intrinsic desire to walk. • Growing a bold movement of individuals and communities who invest in the personal, social, and communal benefits of walking. • Creating unique invitations for others and shaping the greater walking movement. ** Please note that registration is required for this event, see below! ** As a trained Walk2Connect Walking Movement Leader, you will: • Be prepared to use our platform to host walks in the places you live, work, and play. • Have the the skills & support to lead meaningful walks focused on connection with others, with place and with self. • Be connected to a thriving & growing peer-to-peer group and opportunities for ongoing training. **This training opportunity is also for those who want to support us by championing greater awareness, education, and passion for the endless benefits of walking culture outside of facilitating walks.** Our Walking Movement Leader program is a significant investment from our organization into trainees’ personal excitement and passion for walking. Our volunteer Walking Movement Leaders are the heart, the backbone, and the feet on the street for our growing #Lifeat3MPH community. Nature Super Hero Walk Series

Wonderland Lake Trailhead

TYPE: Bilingual Spanish/English | PACE: Fitness |TERRAIN: Sidewalk and trail| DISTANCE: 2 miles Walk Series Description: Become a Nature Super Hero! Thanks to a grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), we are offering a five-week bilingual (Spanish/English) series. Starting Monday, April 22, not only will you strengthen your body, but you will also join forces with our friends at City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks to become stewards and protectors of our open spaces. We will kick off the event with a Forest Bathing Experience at Chautauqua Park, Boulder, on Monday, April 22 at 12:30 PM-2:30 PM to honor Earth Day. The next three Mondays, April 29, May 6 and 13 at 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM, we will walk and strengthen our body with Walk2Connect’s own fitness coach, Sarah Schwallier and our friend Angela Maria Ortiz Roa, for an hour and a half of conditioning, walking, and talking at Wonderland Lake, 4201 North Broadway in Boulder. We will end our Super Hero Series with a family-friendly, educational, trash clean-up, and multi-cultural celebration “asado” at the top of Flagstaff Mountain Summit on Sunday, May 19 from 11 AM – 3 PM.
