This is a special walk dedicated to Longmont’s Mental Health Month. See more at https://manymoretomorrows.org We will be discussing the benefits of walking beyond the physical benefits. TYPE: STSP | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, bike trail, some road | DISTANCE: Approx. 3 miles Welcome to Walk2Connect’s first weekly walk series in Longmont. These walks are relaxed, casual and fun. We will explore various roads, parks and alleyways around Longmont, rotating our starting place every week. Don’t like Mondays? These walks are for you! Come to make new friends while getting your mind, body and spirit moving at a natural pace. All abilities welcome. On the third Monday of every month, we will explore and connect the parks in central Longmont, around Clark Centennial Park. Walking Movement Leader: Ana M. Lucaci is the first Walking Movement Leader in Longmont to join Walk2Connect. She has used walking as a means of transportation for many years, particularly while growing up and working in Eastern Europe. After a pedestrian/car accident, she became a walking advocate, helping others experience walking as a means of staying healthy and speaking out to make walking accessible and safe for all. Schedule: We will meet at 5:30 p.m. We leave NO LATER than 5:40 p.m. and will finish no later than 6:45 p.m. Trip Notes: ~ Well-behaved dogs are allowed. No retractable leashes please. ~ Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather, and bring water, snacks and sun protection. ~ Be sure to bring water, and consider bringing a camera to take and share photos. TYPE: Hike | PACE: Conversational | TERRAIN: Dirt Trails | DISTANCE: Approx. 3 miles Walk Description: Enjoy a morning hike on the Flatirons Vista trails in south Boulder! We'll hike up to a scenic viewpoint to look over the Flatirons and Eldorado Canyon, walk through a ponderosa pine forest, and hike back along the border with Jefferson County. It's a beautiful place to explore together. Schedule, Planning & Transit: We will meet at the trailhead on Highway 93, just south of the light at Highway 128. There is plenty of parking at the trailhead. Carpool if you can! TYPE: Stop and Go | PACE: Gentle | TERRAIN: Multi-use path, dirt trail | DISTANCE: Approx. 2.5-3 miles What if you took a moment to tap into your soul's wisdom for a helpful and insightful message? Walk Description: This easy walk in nature offers a chance to ask for clarity/support on a topic and connect to your "Whole-Self Wisdom" to learn from the insight it reveals. We'll start with a walk and talk to connect with each other, followed by a mindful walk to connect to ourselves, and then conclude with a fun way to receive your helpful message through art and poetry (no experience necessary!). Schedule and Planning: We will gather at the picnic tables at the Lefthand Valley Grange Trailhead in Niwot at 9:00 am, then walk along the Cougar/Overbrook Trails returning returning back to the picnic tables by 9:40-10:00am to then start our drawing/painting and "poetry catching" with some group sharing (optional). Price: Free Trip Notes: ~ Bring any paper to draw/paint on, and any type of medium that appeals to you (pastels, watercolor...). No worries if you don't have materials. I will bring crayons and a pad of colored paper. ~ Bring water, sun protection, and wear appropriate clothing/shoes for the season. ~ No dogs on this outing, please. We will walk about 2 miles total, ending with coffee and conversation. On Saturday, September 21, Boulder City Council Member Mary Young will join us to discuss local projects and chat with constituents. **Please note that this walk will be led primarily in Spanish with special outreach to our Spanish-speaking community. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided via headsets for English speakers.** Schedule and Planning: We will meet outside the front doors of the West Boulder Senior Center at 10:00 am and start walking no later than 10:10 am. Walk or bike to meet us, or drive and park in the library or senior center lot.
