Brompton New York Code of Conduct

In order to have a safe and fun group, we request that all of our community members follow some basic rules to ensure that everyone has a great time.

• We welcome any kind of bike and any type of rider in our group. However, some rides may be better suited to specific types of bikes and riders. If you’re not sure if a ride is right for you or your bike, just ask! We’re happy to help.

• No one gets left behind! We wait for all riders and finish the ride together.

• We do not encourage drinking alcohol and riding. However, if drinking and riding are taking place at the same event, we are responsible and arrange for appropriate transportation.

• Helmets are recommended to all riders.

• We are honest about our ability to participate. We only commit to events we plan to attend.

• We do not use this platform to sell anything. This group is purely for social purposes.

Fieldston Ride

Van Cortlandt Park

Alert: We are expecting cold weather barely touching the low 40s. Please dress accordingly. Should you ride home after the event, it will probably be a dark ride, so make sure you have lights with batteries charged.

Introduction: This is an upper-beginner level ride of about 10 miles that is short enough to do even in cold weather and is likely the last of our adventures for 2022. It crosses several little known gems of New York City -- including the Fieldston Historic District, Inwood Hill and Heather Garden.

Meeting: We will meet on Saturday, December 10th at noon inside Van Cortlandt Park, next to the 242nd Street station (the last stop) of the #1 train. There are benches in the park near the subway station entrance.

Route: See route here. The route shown here is approximate. We will do some free exploration in Fieldston, then ride on Palisades Ave and across the Hudson Bridge to Inwood Hill. Some short segments are prohibited for riders, so we will walk our bikes.

Finish: The ride ends at OISO BBQ PIT, a familiar venue. Participation is optional. The A train is not running above 168th Street on weekends, but the #1 should be operating normally. There is also easy access to the Hudson Greenway for those riding home.

Contact: Please text me as needed at: [masked]

Safety: We will average 5 mph at most and do not plan to stay out after dark. This ride is mostly off busy roads.
