We are putting together the trip outline for our next European adventure - this time to Portugal and Spain. As usual we will be renting bikes from a local, high quality bike rental shop (BMWs, Honda's, KTMs etc are available). Our plan is to start and end our ride in Portugal seeing some beautiful coastal areas and well known cities and also to foray into Spain to catch a few of the sights there as well. We will have five days of beautiful riding with some hilly portions and a fair amount of coastal flats.
As we get closer to the ride I will post the itinerary and costs. Typically we suggest you plan for about a $2,200 out of pocket trip for the bikes, guides and lodging. As always, you will be responsible for your own flights to and from Portugal, gas, food, drinks and other personal items. We will provide an update as soon as the details are finalized. If you think you are interested in attending please RSVP now. We will confirm later as we get closer and will not ask for deposits until late June 2021.
Looking forward to meeting and riding with all of you soon!
Kevin & Jeff
Due to Coronavirus we are pushing this trip back (again, unfortunately) to March 2022
Please indicate if you are planning to go via MeetUp (no fee to do this). In order to reserve your spot you will need to book via the Bucket List Motorcycle Tours website (20% deposit required at time of booking). Please be advised that space is limited for this tour.
This is part riding tour and part jungle and ocean adventure. Some of it is light off-road riding. All of it is FUN!
The friendly and welcoming people of Belize speak English and you can spend US or Belizean dollars (the exchange rate is an easy 2 Belize dollars to every one US dollar).
What you’ll see or do: We will visit rain forest reserves, Mayan ruins, waterfalls and beautiful ocean beaches too. We will explore a jungle farm, an animal sanctuary and nature preserve too. We will sample the nightlife and great Belizean food and even spend half of a day on a semi-private island for kayaking and swimming too. The last day of the trip you will be able to choose either lounging on the beach relaxing after our epic ride or a full day snorkeling trip out to the beautiful vibrant barrier reef!
The ride is mostly on paved roads but we will do some light off road riding (about 80% on road, 20% off road). The bikes are adventure bikes – very manageable 150cc to 250cc options. Seat heights range from 30 inches to 33 inches - easily managed for most riders.
This tour is not appropriate for “two-up” riding – so only one rider per bike.
Meeting point: Belize City International Airport. Riders will be asked to arrive within a 4 hour window based on available flights and will be met by the Tour Captain at the Belize City Airport. We will then take a 15 min “hop” flight and a quick taxi ride to Hopkins Bay, Belize. This is our home base and location of the bike rental company.
NOTE - the club will meet several times before this trip to make sure everyone is comfortable with travel and logistical details. Don't worry if you have never been to Belize... we are there to help guide the way :-)
What to bring: Weather appropriate riding clothing. Belize is typically around 85 degrees Fahrenheit and moderately humid. Lightweight riding boots and long pants and long sleeve shirts are recommended (although not mandatory). Helmets are provided by the motorcycle rental company at a minimal extra charge. Bikes have limited top case storage so pack lightly. We will have a stop at the halfway point to change out clothing and supplies, as the route is an “out and back – refresh and refit - then out and back again”
We recommend you bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a collapsible hat with a brim for times when we are off the bikes. We will visit waterfalls, swimming holes and ocean beaches along the way so be sure to bring your swimming suits and a small towel too if you care to swim/wade.
