What we're about

Capital Corgi Club is for all corgis and the humans who love them in the greater Washington metro area. Whether you have one corgi, two corgis or are considering adding a corgi to your family, you and your family are welcome to join us for breed play groups and other corgi related fun. These events are for the dogs. Please RSVP the number of Corgis (not humans) attending unless otherwise noted on the event RSVP.

If you see an event with 12:00 AM that is not a mistake. I create events with midnight start time as a placeholder slot pending exact details to ensure the event shows up on the calendar in the correct order. Please be patient with me updating the site. In 2019 I will be trying out limiting the RSVP start date to less than 30 days out for most events to try to avoid folks signing up weeks in advance, forgetting to update, and then no-showing.

I do my best to avoid setting up events when other corgi groups have stuff the same day in the same general area to avoid splitting up attendance. If you have an event you would like to publicize please message me ideally with all the details I need to repost or the link to your event page. I will only repost events where corgis can attend.

We have no permanent home so we bounce from location to location. Please check upcoming meetups for our next gathering's location, time and date. I will try to put any entrance fee or venue rules when I learn of them myself. Please always be prepared to provide proof of vaccinations etc when attending an indoor venue event just in case it is required. For puppy safety, no puppy under the age of 16 weeks should attend events as they need to receive last shots at roughly that time. Aggressive dogs (or humans) will be banned by group consensus.

Super Pet Expo - 2020

Dulles Expo Center

Organizers are saying new dates will be June 12th weekend so I have tentatively added this back to calendar for Sunday 6/14. https://www.superpetexpo.com/coronavirus-information Please note that dogs (based on latest info) DO NOT get infected or carry the virus. That said this place is swarming with creatures called humans who are always vectors for disease, including this virus, every year. I already scheduled this for Sunday long before the virus was announced to avoid the madness that is the event on Saturday.

The Johnsville Ruritan Club Picnic Pavilion

PWWCP will post official details. Fingers crossed they will have the lure course this year. I will repost when I get the details myself.

Father's Day Roosevelt Island

Theodore Roosevelt Memorial

Meet at the memorial. Back by popular request for Father's Day. Great walk with views of DC and Georgetown. Please be mindful of the parking situation there as when it's busy you have to park up in Rosslyn and cross the bridge over the GW parkway. Island has a nice sandy beach so there may be an opportunity for corgi swimming overlooking Georgetown at the point marked 10 on the graphic to cool off if its a hot day. For those with kayaks or paddleboards we may have a pre or post event paddle.

Mother's Day Arboretum Walk - Reschedule

National Arboretum

THIS ONE IS TENTATIVELY RESCHEDULED TO JUNE 21. THE ARBORETUM IS CLOSED WITH NO KNOWN REOPENING DATE. We will be celebrating Mother's Day with a walk around the DC Arboretum. We will be starting at the Columns and will depart and walk the Azalea trail loop which is accessible and pretty level ground. If others have more enthusiasm for a slightly harder follow-on walk you can join us for the Asian gardens or the Fern Valley depending on the weather. Please try to arrive early as this is a very popular spot on Mother's Day and parking near the visitor center or the Columns fills up really quickly. There is always overflow parking at the NY avenue entrance so if you are running late feel free to catch up to the group. Please note we are joining forces with the DC WEEN group (Dachshunds group).
