History and Practice of Ritual Magic: PGM
As always, the Denver Tarot Geeks is an advanced group for people who already have strong skills in the area of study and who are dedicated to committed in-depth study and practice. This is not for those with casual interest or for drop-ins who just want to check it out. Thank you for honoring this requirement. *** Starting in January 2018, we will be studying and working from the PGM, the Papyri Graecae Magicae or the Greek Magical Papyri. We'll be working from the Betz translation, The Greek Magical Papyri in Translation, Including the Demotic Spells, Volume 1, edited by Hans Dieter Betz, University of Chicago Press, 1997 (, supplemented with the Skinner study guide, Techniques of Graeco-Egyptian Magic by Stephen Skinner, Llewellyn Publications, 2014 ( A pdf copy of the Betz translation is available online: We'll probably also refer to Patrick Dunn's The Practical Art of Divine Magic, Llewellyn Publications, 2015. Each meeting we move forward in studying and practicing this system of ancient magic as offered in modern translation of these historical scrolls. We meet monthly to review techniques, plan magical operations, and share the results of the work we did the previous month. We are open to having new members join us in this process. Please contact me to see what we are focusing on for the upcoming meetup.
