What we’re about
Dharma Refuge is a community of people dedicated to walking the path of wakefulness through a deep exploration of Buddhist wisdom and the conditions of life, just as we find them. We practice self-reflection, inquiry, mindfulness, meditation and the cultivation of Bodhichitta—the wish to be awakened in order to benefit all living beings. We study and practice under the guidance of local teacher and spiritual director Sue Kochan and root teacher Anam Thubten, whose lineage and vision inspired the founding of our community. Our practices, classes and retreats welcome everyone into a safe, non-dogmatic sacred space to explore the teachings of the Buddha and to experience the refuge within, our own awakened nature. Everyone is welcome to join us for a weekly practice, introductory class, public talk, urban retreat. All that's required is your wise and open heart. :-)
