Back by popular demand! Exercising Eugene Veggies style: walk in a beautiful place, enjoying the great outdoors, followed by a tailgate party/snack share. We'll be walking the river path along the Willamette River, with slow, medium and fast pace options. Groups who walk fast enough may make it to the rose garden as an extra special treat! We will meet back at our cars for a fun (optional) snack share/tailgate party.
This event is earlier in the day than we normally meet, but it's nice to do an invigorating morning walk. With global warming, I am expecting good weather, but if the weather ends up looking really bad, we will come up with a plan B for the event.
HOW IT WILL WORK
We'll be splitting into groups based on how people like to pace themselves. Each group will walk out however far they can get for 20 minutes and then turn around and come back. This way, we will all be back at the cars at the same time and there's no stress about reaching a particular distance. Last time we did this walk, it was really relaxing and fun to talk to the participants. And oh gosh, the little snack share afterwards was a perfect cap to the event.
DID YOU SAY THERE WILL BE FOOD?
You can come just for the walk if you want. However, in the past, when we did an event like this, we had a fun time fortifying ourselves with vegan snacks after the walk. Do you have a nice breakfast cookie recipe? Maybe some coffee cake to share? The best trail mix imaginable? Your own yummy meal bars? Some mini vegan muffins from the grocery store? Oh hey, maybe after that calorie burn, you think people should indulge in vegan cheese and crackers? How about some cut-up/ready-to-eat fruit? The options are endless.
Just bring something that people can eat with their fingers and that is free of meat, dairy and eggs . Also please bring an ingredient card if it's more than a single ingredient.
WHERE TO FIND US
I'll send out more details about where to park and how it will work. Please look for that email 1 day before the event.
In the meantime, consider what vegan themed or green clothing you might wear so as to make us an identify-able group. (Totally optional of course, but serious brownie points to those who do.)
WHO TO BRING
There is no attendance limit. Just mark the number of guests you are bringing so that I have a good head count and people can know how much food to bring. Also note that dogs who are 100% people AND dog-friendly (calm around other dogs) are very welcome. Kids who would enjoy this type of event are also very welcome!
