Free Form Dance for women and men. L.A. Dance Collective
Free form dance: A weekly dance experience with carefully curated music that ignites exciting possibilities for movement, deep attuning and freedom of expression. We encourage expansive as well as subtle movement and, ahh…stillness. We have a limited roster of excellent DJ facilitators who hone their music to encompass the tastes and desires of the community. Music selections include, World, Funk, Soul, Meditative/Trance, Classical and more. Dancing one’s feelings, outright playfulness, and sacred inquiry are some of the ways to enjoy the dance experience. Dancing alone or with others is appropriate while being mindful of each other’s boundaries. The dance floor is considered sacred, therefore talking is best done outside. There is no right or wrong way to move, just follow your body's wise cues. Barefoot or dance shoes and comfortable clothes/dancewear. Bring your own water. Join a vibrant and healing community of movers!! Los Angeles Dance Collective is a non profit 501c3 organization dedicated to offering a quality dance experience to a community of open-hearted movers. Culver City Masonic Lodge, 9635 Venice Blvd., Venice, CA $15. Every Saturday, 10 am - 12.

What we're about

Los Angeles Dance Collective is held every Saturday 10am -12. Culver City Masonic Lodge, 9635 Venice Blvd., Culver City. $15. LADC is a community of movers that share a love of music and dance. We are inspired by The 5 Rhythms, Moving Soul Dance, Soul Motion, Open Floor, Contact Improvisation, Continuum, World Dance and many other forms of embodied expression.
We see dancing as a vehicle for creative self-discovery, playfulness, authentic inquiry and healing. We gather weekly with a rotating list of four experienced DJ/ facilitators striving to create musical soundscapes in styles ranging from Funk, World, Soul, Meditative (among many others), all artfully curated by Dj's with sensitivity to participants needs and desires.
We offer a space where both new and experienced dancers have the opportunity to explore and express physically, emotionally and relationally in a safe and supportive context. There is no right way to move and no wrong way. It's not about how it looks, but rather how it feels. We encourage expressive and subtle movement as well as stillness. Dancing alone or with others is encouraged while being mindful of each other’s boundaries. We consider the dance floor sacred. There is no talking in the dance space so as not to interfere with each other's dance experience. We hold a closing circle at the end of each dance. Dancers may come and go from the dance space as they wish. Facebook/LosAngelesDanceCollective,
