We are the oldest, biggest, most active, and most inclusive MeetUp community in Jakarta... and we invite you to join us! Everyone is always welcome.

Jakarta Friends is the community to meet new people while doing unique activities in Jakarta. We play board games, talk business, socialize, eat and drink together, have potlucks, do language exchanges, explore the city by walking and culinary tours, and much more! It's all about authentic connections in an uncomplicated and informal setting.

Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where everyone is welcome. This group is a convergence of people and cultures. You might want to check out the group Jakarta Creatives, too!

Over the past 3 years, with Jakarta Friends & Jakarta Creatives we have had over 250 events with about 2,000 attendees! Everyone should always feel welcome to join disregarding from their ethnicity, nationality, religion, creed, age, language skills, gender identification, sexual orientation, background, ability, income, social status, or any other arbitrary trait.

We have a yearly membership fee to join our events. This is explained more in detail in the group discussion! The membership fee is not expensive and gives access to all events + exclusive perks! There's so much more value to members than having an event fee. We guarantee keep organising plenty of events and the fee is refundable if the group closes down or if there are no events for more than three months. You can attend the first event for free and take a look!

ABOUT THE EVENT
Do names like Madja, KulturAle, Island of Imagination, Kura Kura, Tall Tales, Beer Belly, or Coffeebeerian ring a bell?

If they don't, then this event is exactly for you... to discover something new! This is the DREAM EVENT for all beer lovers in Jakarta. Come to this discovery tour and meet locals and expats who share the passion for beer.

We will visit two unique beer bars in Jakarta (Beer Belly and Coffeebeerian) and try different beers. The event starts at 8 pm but feel free to join later.

ABOUT THE VENUES

We will meet at Beer Belly (https://www.instagram.com/beerbelly.id) in Senopati at 8 pm and start our evening there. They have some food and snacks, and are usually Ok with guests having food delivered with Gofood.

Beer Belly is a new bar with very affordable beer on the bottle, can and tap, both local and imported. They have regular promos, too. They also have refreshing, homemade coconut water on the menu.

After Beer Belly we will head to Coffeebeerian (https://www.instagram.com/cobejkt) which is just 5 minutes walking distance, and end our evening there. Coffeebeerian is the oldest craft beer bar in Jakarta. They have tasty food and a fantastic selection of tap (plus bottle/can) beers. It's spacious and lively on a Friday night.
We won't have a shared bill. Just pay what you order. You do not have to drink beer, of course: you can also join us just for the company and drink whatever else you prefer.

HOW TO REGISTER TO THE EVENT?

To register, just click “Attend”! There are a few simple rules

  • We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
  • Don't arrive early. Event starts at 8 pm. You can arrive anytime later. In case we moved already, just post a comment on the event page to find us
  • People in the waitlist cannot attend, and are encouraged to check a few hours before the event if they got a spot
  • Repeated no-show (3X) without updating RSVP will be removed from the group.
  • We kindly ask attendees not to cancel within two hours of the event unless there's a reason of force majeure, as this is not friendly for attendees who expect a certain number of people to show up
  • Come alone or with a friend, partner, or family!
  • Attendees who bring a +1 are responsible to make sure that the guest understand and agrees to our rules of respect and inclusivity

WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our community has a monthly membership fee that can be paid through the app (2 USD/month or about 33k IDR/month).

Membership can also be paid as a yearly membership of 320k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Membership fee is offered with a promo discount to first-timers, who can become members for 240k IDR/year.

First-timers can decide to join with a sneek peak price of 50k IDR & pay the remaining 270k IDR at the next event they attend. Registered +1 can attend for free.

Renewals (after 365 days) and upgrades (to join JakCre) are offered at a special rate. All this is aimed at encouraging people to sign up, and then to attend as many events as they like!

    Just a casual Friday night strolling around Jalan H Agus Salim. They have delicious and affordable saté (chicken, beef, goat, pedas pedas), many café (amongst the oldest in town!), bars, street food.

    Come and leave anytime. We meet at 8 PM at the corner of Jl. H. Agus Salim & Jl. K.H. Wahid Hasyim and have the first Saté bite of the night. Then we will stroll around and find together places to sit, chill, enjoy the start of the weekend.

    We will move around throughout the night or find the best spot and sit down there like lazy pandas. We can stay in one big group or split up into sevaral smaller ones, and regroup at any time again.

    Jalan H Agus Salim is very lively on a Friday night. There's plenty of delishious street food, old cafés, bars and restaurant. Many side alleys guarantees that there's plenty of spots to choose from!

    1 city, 2 persons, 3 hours. The idea is very simple: let's connect with another human being while exploring the city by foot. Take as many stops as you want, of course (you don't need to walk for three hours straight)!

    This is a ticketed event. All surplus from this activity will be donated to a local charity that all participants choose together in June 2026!

    In this event, one person will be the tour leader, and one attendee will be the guest. The idea is that the tour leader presents a part of the city they know well, but it's also possible that the leader choses a part of the city they'd like to explore. The guest, too, can go along and follow or suggest routes without the need to feel like a passive participant.

    There's no fixed topic of conversation and both participants can suggest topics related to the city, personal interests, news, or anything else.

    Let's explore the area around Blok M together! There's plenty of parks, street food, cafés, Japanese restaurants in the Japanese neighbourhood, street vendors. We can explore some green areas, enjoy the sunset, and head for a bite at the end -- we will decide together!

    Corrado has been living in Jakarta for 4 years and organising meetup events since 3 years. He enjoys discovering new cultures, has a background in science, and speaks several languages (Bahasa Indonesia sedikit aja). He loves talking aobut movies and literature, and enjoys authentic connections.

    HOW TO REGISTER TO THIS EVENT?

    This is a paid event! To confirm participation, the attendee needs to pay the event price in advance. The costs is fully refundable in case of timely cancellation (at east 24 h before the event) and someone else in the waitlist can take over the spot.

    The event cost 100k IDR for non-members of Jakarta Friends, 50k IDR for members, and is free for people who commit to lead one tour of their own. All surplus from this activity will be donated to a local charity that all participants choose together in June 2026!

    Calling out for all board gamers to play together! The idea is very simple: We meet and we play board games! All levels of experience playing board games are welcome. Newcomers are very welcome.

    This event will be at Muyen Coffee and Roastery Tebet. Just pay for your own food and drink. We will ask for a split bill! The host will bring various games which are easy to learn on the spot, including Monopoly, Risiko, Card Games, Uno, Cluedo, Yatzee, and more! Feel free to bring your own games, if you want to! No extensive experience as board gamer needed!

    The event is set to finish at 4.30 PM but might extend longer, if people want to stay!

    • We kindly ask attendees who cannot manage to join to update RSVP at least 24 h before the event as a courtesy to other attendees and event organisers.
    • Come and go as you want for this event. The earlier you come, the more time you can have to enjoy the event.
    • People on the waitlist cannot attend and will receive a spot automatically if someone cancels. Also, people in the waitlist need to update their RSVP if they cannot come!
    • Repeated no show at Jakarta Friends events without updating RSVP = removal from the group
    • Attendees are allowed to bring a +1 for free to this event. +1 need to be new members of the commuity. Attendees with a +1 need to make sure that their +1 understands and abides our rules of inclusivity and mutual respect

    WE HAVE A MEMBERSHIP FEE. HOW DOES IT WORK?

    Our community has a monthly membership fee that can be paid through the app (2 USD/month or about 33k IDR/month).

    Membership can also be paid as a yearly membership of 320k IDR valid for 365 days after payment. Membership fee is offered with a promo discount to first-timers, who can become members for 240k IDR/year.

    First-timers can decide to join with a sneek peak price of 50k IDR & pay the remaining 270k IDR at the next event they attend. Registered +1 can attend for free.

    Renewals (after 365 days) and upgrades (to join JakCre) are offered at a special rate. All this is aimed at encouraging people to sign up, and then to attend as many events as they like!

    Yearly membership can be paid at an event (cash/bank transfer/Gopay) or beforehand (bank transfer/Gopay). Text Corrado (+62 8211 489 3580) if you have any questions about membership.

    Membership to both Jakarta Friends and Jakarta Creatives is offered for only 390k IDR/year. Membership gives access to all events plus exclusive perks available only to paying members, like for example our Give Away Birthday Celebrations with lucky draw (Sept 2024) or FREE pasta cooking (and eating 😉) workshop (Nov 2024) or Museum visits with FREE GUIDED TOURS (Sept 2024). To most events, attendees can bring a +1 for free, and we have some events open to all (paid and unpaid) members.

    To all members we guarantee to keep organizing plenty of events. You will receive a full refund if the group closes down, or if there’s no event happening in three months.

    In the past 3 years we have organised up to 2-3 events per week (browse past event of JakFri here and of JakCre here). That is, with your membership you can attend up to 5-10 events!
