The suggested hike for Wednesday, July 31, 2019, is an in-and-out on the Jones Gap Trail to Dargans Cascade.

The hike begins at the Jones Gap State Park Visitors Center. We will hike about four miles upstream along the beautiful Middle Saluda River which offers many nice forest and river views along the way. Hikers can expect to see wildflowers and mushrooms. The first and last mile of the trail is very rocky. We will have lunch at Dargans Cascade. Then, return by the same route. A favorite hike close to home.

Our hiking goal: Maintain a moderate speed of 2 - 2-1/2 mph as well as staying together as a group. Dean’s List hikes focus on safety, companionship and enjoying the outdoors.

State Park Pass or entry fee required.

Please bring State Park Passes. We will arrange carpools accordingly.

Miles: 8; EG: 1000 ft; R: S
