What we're about

You don't need your own dog but you probably need to like them! We are a people and dog-friendly group, typically taking a 2-3 hour walk with 25-30 people (and 25-30 dogs!) every other weekend in Gloucestershire or nearby. We also have evening walks in the summer, activities like canoeing and weekends away.

Gloucestershire Walking with Dogs is run as a voluntary, amateur social group (your Meetup membership terms (https://www.meetup.com/terms/) include a release of liability for group organisers). Think of it as joining a group of friends for a walk, where you are responsible for the safety and actions of yourself and your dogs.

Like any responsible walker, we expect everyone to close gates, put dogs on leads around livestock, and take other reasonable steps to stay safe and be courteous to landowners and other users of the areas we visit.

We ask for 50p on walks towards the Meetup subscription fee, with any remaining money kept in a kitty for other group activities (organisers do not receive any income or reimbursement of costs). If paid activities are organised, these are charged at the cost of the third party without markup.

Please get in touch with any questions via the site or call Ben on 07968 211023.

Limit of 20 as restrictions allowing larger groups of up to 30 by the Government guidelines, Burt also conscious that parking is limited in the village.

Usual bumph about social distancing and not coming if you have any Covid symptoms :)

This is a circular 3-4 mile route from The Crown at Frampton Mansell to the Daneway in Sapperton and via Siccaridge wood, hoping we will get sight of the bluebells that are popular there

My tel no is[masked] if you need to contact me, eg running late or last minute cancellation. Not sure the reception is great though in the village.

Parking where you can in the village or at the pub if you plan to stop for a drink at the end.

We ask for a voluntary donation of 50p per walk towards the Meetup subscription (unused money goes to a kitty for group activities). Minchinhampton & Box from the Weighbridge Inn

Weighbridge Inn

We can use the Weighbridge Inn car park in the morning (GL6 9AL) but please park in the gravelled area furthest from the pub.

We'll meet there and walk about 4.5 miles, 2-2.5 hours through Minchinhampton and Box, some off lead and some on the road. As we're starting in a valley there will be a hill at the beginning, sorry!

I've provisionally booked two separate tables of 6 for lunch at 1.30, please let me know if you're coming so I can confirm numbers.

Gower weekend!

Location visible to members

www.threecliffsbay.com

I have booked 9th-12th July 2021. Make sure you also choose TENT NON ELECTRIC, and in the notes field mention the dog group, Ben Jeffery and my booking ref 63743.

*************

There are also options for electric and campervan pitches, glamping and holiday cottages (not dog friendly), or other accommodation in the area if you want to meet the rest of us in the day.

Friday check in from 12pm (I’ll try to get there for mid-afternoon). I’ll arrange a walk and pub lunch Saturday, then a shorter walk on the Sunday (11am check out but they may allow us to leave tents up longer, or at least leave the cars there). Barbecues in the evening!

I'm guessing the Swansea Air Show will be the same weekend so there may be traffic and road closures.

This is a stunning location with a beautiful dog-friendly beach a few minutes walk away, and lots of local walk and pub options. The campsite is very well equipped with individual bathrooms and a shop including fresh coffee and pretty much anything else you want to buy, but may be cheaper to stop at a supermarket on the way for barbecue food etc.

The site has a strict policy of dogs on leads at all times which we need to follow, although there is a walking area nearby where you can let them off, and of course the beach! 10pm noise cut off.
