Selfish Jerks?: How healthy self-interest is good for you AND those around you.

Details
Many of us growing up have been taught that selfishness is a bad thing, that selfish people will be bad for you, and that being selfless is the way to be a good person.
In this class, Rose will challenge the traditional notion of “selfishness” and ask the class to examine the potential benefits of acting in your own self interest instead of always trying to put others first.
This class will include some interactive gameplay at the beginning of the presentation that will require the attendees to partner up to multiple other attendees in the room. Materials for this will be provided.
Rose will assert that, if it is done correctly, acting in your self-interest will not only help you to cultivate better and healthier relationships, but it can actually help you to have more to give to those you love and care about, without incurring high costs to your own mental and physical health. This part of the class will discuss some strategies for setting boundaries and making sure your own needs are met, and suggest some ideas about how sometimes things that benefit you will also benefit the people around you and vice versa.
Join us at 11:30 for pizza in the meeting room! The formal program starts at 12:00.
