Join LI-DOG on Sat., June 24th for one of our popular LI-DOG Pack Walks(TM) – a group on-leash dog walk--in beautiful Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown!
Blydenburgh is a 627-acre Suffolk County Park that boasts not only a large dog park, but miles of dog-friendly walking trails. The main loop trail around Stump Pond in the center of the park is six miles long, but for our Pack Walk on June 24th, we’ll scope out a shorter, 45 minute or hour-long walk for everyone and their dogs. The trail is mostly flat, dirt or sand, and well-shaded by trees.
Please be aware that there can occasionally be horses on the trail, especially in the more northern sections of the park. In any case, dogs must be kept on leash at all times and, of course, be picked up after. Also, while there is water available in the dog park, you may want to bring water for you and your dog on the trail.
Meet us on the big field next to the dog park to start our Pack Walk!
Please note: All dogs must have proof of rabies vaccination (photo of certificate on your phone).
Also note: There is a $15 per vehicle parking fee; $7 for Suffolk County residents with a valid Green Key card to get into the park at this time of year. The parking fee is in effect from Memorial Day to Labor Day during the day on weekends. For more info about Green Key Cards, check out the SC Parks Fee & Program Schedule 2017. (http://www.suffolkcountyny.gov/Portals/0/parks/pdf/FEE%20_PROGRAM_SCHEDULE_2017v2.pdf)
Once you’ve paid at the entrance gate, follow the signs straight north to the Dog Park. The road will turn into a dirt road several hundred feet before you get to the parking area for the dog park.
As always, check back here on Meetup on Fri. night or Sat. morning around 9 a.m. for any weather-related changes.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone and their dogs for our LI-DOG Pack Walk at Blydenburgh Park Sat. morning, June 24th!
