American Cha-Cha Class in Dodgeville! FREE!!
• What we'll do Learn To Dance!! Free!!! As I wander about Dodgeville, I get to chat with a lot of folks and as we get to know each other, they eventually ask what I do. I retired early, do volunteer work with veterans and military families, and the rest of the time is playing with my dog and dancing which brightened their eyes. Like many, they say they’d always wanted to learn to dance but never had the opportunity. I told them I would be glad to teach basics if we had a space and now we have space at the Dodger Bowl. I truly believe in the power of dance. It provides exercise, it’s a great social experience, combats aging, improves focus, and then, of course, there’s the romance… While we will have more complete lesson series in the future, the upcoming classes will get you started and comfortable enough to get you through full songs. After we get a series or two, I will run an occasional social dance. Our current schedule: February 18, 2018 Beginning American Cha-Cha 3:30 - 4:30 February 25, 2018 Continuing American Waltz 3:30 - 4:30 • What to bring Clean, dry shoes • Important to know The owners of Dodger Bowl are giving us the space for free, please support the restaurant and bar (great burgers and cheese steak sandwiches!) Lessons are free but donations graciously accepted.

What we're about

Public Group

Unlike most meetup groups, this one does not specialize in any one activity. Rather, the aim is to serve as "one stop shopping" for a whole universe of opportunities to get out of the house, DO something that moves the body, brain, and/or soul, and, especially, meet interesting and active people from all walks of life. Examples could include anything from picnics, kayak outings on Lake Wingra, moderate bike rides, and nature walks in the Arboretum to potluck dinners, dancing, and local live music.

I'd also like to get volunteers (or recommendations) to teach the basics of sports and other activities. For many, it has been years since they played CASUAL basketball, tennis, volleyball, or softball or they may NEVER have done these things.

In that same light, we will be drastically reducing "Bar Time" to perhaps one "Meet and Greet" per month where we can also share suggestions and ideas of events to do. There are lots of groups for beer, wine and whatever you should look there as well.

So, whether you're new to Madison or a native simply looking to widen your horizons, whether you're single or in a relationship, whether you're old or young, this group will have something to offer! We require you to use your real name (first name at least) and a current head shot photo of just you. You can't be anonymous and social!! With a current photo and proper name you'll be able to find your friends and, I hope this is few and far between, anyone who "misbehaves" can be immediately identified.

John is the nominal organizer, but he will depend heavily on both suggestions and assistance from the group's members in order to keep a full schedule of activities on the calendar.
