What we’re about
We require members to use a real first name and face photo on their profile. Food at our events is vegan but anyone interested in lowering their carbon footprint by eating more plant based meals, even if never planning to go fully vegan, is welcome.
Meatless Meetup is run by a group of volunteer hosts who believe it to be of critical environmental importance that we drastically reduce our meat and dairy consumption. We recommend Earthsave Canada (https://www.earthsave.ca/) for information about the plant based diet.
There are lots of opportunities to volunteer with us, from collecting cash at restaurants to helping out at potlucks. If you want to meet more people at events, get in touch.
N.B. As last minute cancellations and no shows keep wait-listers out, harm our relationship with restaurants, and can even result in our volunteer hosts having to pay for others' meals, we require you to pay for your meal via e-transfer for set menu events if you no show or cancel without adequate notice. Repeated no shows will result in removal from the group.
Meatless Meetup aims to be a transparent, safe space for all. If you experience any form of harassment, please contact a host immediately. Those causing other members to feel unwelcome or unsafe, including in the form of abusive direct messaging outside of events, may be removed from the group.

See all- The Veggie OUTLAWS Shoot Down Misleading Plant-Based MythsVancouver Cohousing, Vancouver, BC
Has anyone ever said to you: "Isn't eating just plants unhealthy though?" or “But you can't get enough protein." Join us in a myth-shattering journey, where together we’ll challenge preconceived notions and celebrate the truth about vegan food.
Presented by:
Linda Purcell, chef and author of Veggie OUTLAWS — Most Wanted Vegan Recipes. With over 14 years of plant-based experience and a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate, Linda's passionate about crafting healthy, flavourful vegan dishes.Linda's book "Veggie OUTLAWS — Most Wanted Vegan Recipes" (with everything from comforting classics to decadent desserts) will be available for sale - ($30.00.- Cash or credit card)
What to bring? Not casseroles or lasagnas or main course dinner meals, but pretty much anything plant-based that you enjoy eating as a snack is A-OK. We'd like to request something other than chips & crackers, only because we usually get way too many, and no peanuts or peanut butter because two people at Co-Housing have allergies (anaphylactic) to peanuts. Please make sure your snack contains no animal products--that means no meat, dairy, whey, gelatin, eggs, and seafood--so that everyone can partake.
Also please bring a $2 cash donation to cover Vancouver Cohousing's cost of hosting us (hot water, soap, TP etc.).
