About us
Northern Virginia Childfree Couples and Individuals Meetup is an inclusive group for people of any relationship status, orientation, and 21+ age who have not had children (by choice or by circumstance) and who are not planning to have children at this time. This is not an empty-nesters group -- this is a group for people who have never parented. Exception: If one person in a couple is childfree, but the other has children from a prior relationship, the childfree person is welcome to join and bring his or her partner to events as long as the partner agrees to respect the purpose of the group.
Let's build our childfree community, have great conversations, and do fun activities while getting to know each other in person!
We respectfully request your consideration in avoiding no-shows and short-notice non-emergency cancellations. Please note: we may reach out to "yes" RSVPs individually a day or two before an event and ask that you reconfirm your attendance status. Thank you.
Some events may be cross-posted with related childfree Meetups. Feel free to join our additional groups and Facebook pages! :-)

Hike Billy Goat Section A - Strenuous
Location not specified yetLet's hike the Billy Goat A Trail along the Potomac River. It is one of our favorite hikes in the local area. It’s challenging due to rock scrambling and some steep sections, but it’s also rewarding as it has spectacular views of the Potomac River.
We currently plan to meet at 10 am at Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center, which requires park pass or parking fee. If only a few people sign up, we will consider parking at the much smaller Angler parking lot. Will confirm when it’s closer to the date.

From nps.gov:### Section A
**Level:**Technical and Strenuous
Length: 1.75 miles one way
Pets: Not permitted
Closest Parking: Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center
Map and Trail Tips: Great Falls Hiking MapThe hike involves scrambling over angled rocks, boulders and climbing. Visitors in less than optimal health, visitors with small children, and visitors not experienced or properly outftted should consider other trail options. The 1.7 mile hike takes most visitors 2-3 hours to complete. Along the trail are views of Mather Gorge and Potomac River. This trail can close due to fooding from the river.
*********Please bring enough water and optional snacks and wear proper shoes. Climbing / gardening gloves are suggested for rock scrambling.
Rest Room Facilities: There are facilities at the beginning and at the end of the hike. There are none along the trail once we start.
In case of inclement weather, the hike will be canceled or postponed.
