What we're about

Welcome to Open Oakland!

OpenOakland (http://openoakland.org/), is a volunteer-led group that bridges technology and community for a thriving and equitable Oakland. We do this by cultivating meaningful relationships, inspiring civic engagement, and empowering Oaklanders. As part of the Code for America Brigade network (https://brigade.codeforamerica.org/), we are a welcoming and inclusive volunteer group of developers, designers, data geeks, and citizen activists who use creative technology to solve civic and social problems.

Our projects are working improve lives of Oaklanders, and there's lots of ways to plug in. Check out our list of active projects, here: openoakland.org/projects

We're always open to new projects and community partners - come pitch us your civic engagement idea! Feel free to join us in person for a hack night or email leadership@openakland.org. New projects are always incubating.

*Bringing a laptop is strongly encouraged*, but not required.
