What we're about

If you enjoy being on the water whether it be the lake, ocean, bay, or river, this group is for you. For stand up paddlers, kayakers, surfers, and all water sport enthusiasts, this is the place to meet others who enjoy being on the water. Most paddles are exploratory covering approximately 5 miles or more conditions permitting. Experienced and non-experienced welcome. Some events are held where rentals are available.

ALL MEMBERS OF THIS GROUP AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

1. This is an online social network that periodically hosts events where members meet in person. This Meetup group is not a substitute for competent, professional paddling instruction from a professional kayaker, stand up paddle boarder or surf instructor. Organizers, Assistant Organizers, Members and Sponsors do NOT guarantee the competence of any individual in this group. Members are responsible for their own safety and should be aware of their ability.

2. Water sports post dangers in any environment- calm, flat water to waves. Any and all consequences as a result of participating in a Meetup activity, including but not limited to personal injury and property damage or loss are an accepted risk to the participant. If you get hurt or suffer property damage or loss in connection with an event posted on this website, it is entirely your responsibility and NOT the responsibility of the Meetup group or any individuals associated with the Meetup group. BY JOINING AND PARTICIPATING WITH THIS GROUP YOU ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR SAFETY, BELONGINGS, HEALTH, AND WELL-BEING, WITH NO EXCEPTIONS.

3. Be courteous to your fellow paddlers. If your plans change and you cannot attend an event, please change your RSVP ASAP so someone else can join and we do not expect you.

4. Posted event times will be the meet time. Allow sufficient time for parking, unloading, and journey prep (ie bathroom, sunscreen, snack, etc) to be ready for timely departure.

IF YOU DO NOT WHOLEHEARTEDLY AND COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS, THEN YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO JOIN THIS GROUP OR PARTICIPATE IN ITS EVENTS.

All that being said, this group is an excellent chance to try out an incredibly rewarding sport! This group encourages folks of all abilities to join and try new things. Beginners are welcome on most events. If events are not beginner appropriate, the description will say so.

Boat House Row Evening Paddle [No Rentals]

Temple Boathouse

This is a fun way to see iconic Boat House Row lit up at night from the water. There are no motor boats on this stretch of the river except crew training boats. Head lamps/ glow sticks/ flashlights will be needed as we will be paddling at dusk and after dark. Feel free to pack a picnic/ snacks to eat on the water! Reminders: 1. Check emails and/or event discussion board for any pertaining updates or changes such as weather, water, or traffic conditions day of and hours leading up to the event. 2. You must have a PFD, rescue light, and whistle on board your craft at all times. Park rangers and/or coast guard will ticket you with out safety equipment. 3. We encourage those looking to challenge themselves, however, be aware of your ability in regards to predicted difficulty. ALL PADDLE ACTIVITIES ARE AT YOUR OWN RISK. 4. In order to ensure everyone's safety, we ask you wear a mask and maintain social distancing in the parking lot during unloading, launching, pack-up, and picnicking, if applicable. Once we’re on the water, masks are optional. 5. If your plans change and you cannot attend, please change your RSVP ASAP so someone else can join and we know not to expect you. 6. Please be ready put in the water approximately 30 minutes after posted meet time. That includes allowing time to park, use the restroom, unload, etc. See you on the water!

Promised Land Weekend Trip

Promised Land State Park Main Beach

Promised Land Lake has a beach for swimming, bathhouse, camping, and kayak rentals. Weather dependent. Look for updates. This will be an overnight trip and you may stay locally at nearby motel or camping sites are available. You may also attend for a single day. We will plan to meet at the upper lake beach area. Bring picnicing food to share. They also have grills and picnic tables. Suggest chairs.
