Led by Amy Karasavas, a certified sommelier, our unique experience at this intimate space in Manhattan will include: • An overview of summer wines, from the numerous wine regions to various styles of production • A primer on how to see, smell, and taste wine • A discussion about the vinicultural and viticultural techniques behind the wines we try • A tasting of eight summer wine varietals from around the world, including France, New Zealand, Italy, and Spain • A chance to mingle with other adventurers who enjoy wine as much as you do Amy has traveled the world studying different styles of wine, and is ready to answer any and all questions about this storied refreshment! Answer: their artwork and artifacts are all lit courtesy of one heavy duty manufacturing facility right here in NYC. Join New York Adventure Club (https://www.nyadventureclub.com/) for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of Edison Price Lighting (http://www.epl.com/), a 60,000-square-foot factory in Long Island City that has designed and manufactured high-quality architectural lighting solutions since 1952. Led by the facility manager, our exploration of this state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will include: • An overview of lighting fixture design from a company that has perfected the craft since 1952 • A walkthrough of the factory to see how raw metals, like heavy gauge steel and aluminum, are transformed into lighting fixture parts down to the nuts and bolts • A closer look at the facility's computer-aided machinery including laser-cutters, milling machines, and punch presses • Manufacturing demonstrations by select factory staff, who have mastered techniques that can only be done by hand, including spinning, wiring, and painting Afterward, we'll finish with a look at Edison Price Lighting's new in-house art gallery to see their lighting fixtures at work!
