'The Secrets of TriBeCa: Lofts, Artists, & Alleyways' Webinar

Online event

Tickets: $10 Click the link below to officially register for this experience: https://www.nyadventureclub.com/event/the-secrets-of-tribeca-lofts-artists-alleyways-webinar-registration-106124146178/ While the Manhattan neighborhood of TriBeCa is known today for its namesake film festival, celebrity sightings, and high-end private homes, it was anything but for nearly 300 years. This is the real story of the sailors, merchants, and artists that once called this neighborhood home, and the historical remnants of its artistic and industrial past — if you know where to look. Join New York Adventure Club as we explore the rich history and story of TriBeCa ("Triangle Below Canal Street"), a New York City neighborhood that can trace its roots back to the old Dutch days when the land was known as New Amsterdam. Led by NYC tour guide and TriBeCa native Gardiner Comfort, our virtual journey into this fascinating and eclectic small corner of Manhattan's "Lower West Side" will include: - How New York tamed the TriBeCa landscape and its original wetlands to suit its expansion - A discussion around the neighborhood's rise with the creation of Washington Market in 1880, once the city's main retail and wholesale food distribution point filled with seed, spice, and cheese importers - The importance of Tribeca as a center of import, with a focus on the maritime industry, the piers, and longshoremen - TriBeCa's unique architecture, from its patchwork of landmark designation to the fragility of beautiful buildings in a business-minded city - The celebration of artists who settled in unused industrial spaces, established their community, and influenced the city for years to come - Rare photos from Gardiner's personal collection, and untold stories from his experience growing up in TriBeCa Afterward, we'll have a Q&A with Gardiner — any and all questions about TriBeCa, or his personal stories of growing up in an artist's loft, are welcomed and encouraged! See you there! *Once registered, you will receive a separate, automated email containing the link to join this webinar **For the best possible viewing experience, please ensure you're using the latest version of your internet browser — Google Chrome is the most compatible. Exact technical requirements and a webinar user guide will be shared in the automated confirmation email upon registration. ***A full replay will be available after the experience for all registered guests

SPEED DATING 35-49 (Online/Virtual)

Online event

*REGISTER - https://www.weekenddating.com/event-details.aspx?id=7872#tix (our last one sold out quickly so if you'd like participate, please register ASAP) Meet singles from the safety and comfort of your own home. This event is for Ages 35-49 who live or work in NY Tri-State area. You will meet singles via your computer with webcam or smartphone/tablet (strong WiFi connection required if using a phone). The event will take place in a Virtual Room using Zoom (if you don't have it yet, just download it - super easy to use). HOW DOES IT WORK? We will break participants into pairs of two, just like we do with traditional speed dating. You will get to speak to each dates for a specified amount of time (typically 4-6 minutes). After the specified number of minutes, the guys will rotate to the next date and the process continues. Just like with traditional speed dating, at the end of the event you will be able to let us know who you were interested in. We will send you both mutual matches (you picked them and they picked you) as well as one way matches (they picked you but you did not pick them). You are given 20 minutes from the end of the event to let us know who you are interested in and will receive the results the same night (usually within one hour) or the next morning. You will not have to wait 24 hours or more to get your results. The minimum number of potential dates will be 5 and the maximum will be about 10. If there are less than 5 members of the opposite sex in attendance, you would get credit for a future Virtual event. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How do I find the Virtual/Zoom Room? After you purchase your ticket, you will get a confirmation appear on your screen along with the Zoom link for you to use to log in. *Cost is between $20-$25 depending on how early you register.

You'll enjoy an evening of meeting new people, fun social interactions and games. Our friendly host will be with you live via video orchestrating the event and even making introductions among the group so you'll get to know the other singles attending. WHY IT WORKS! Through the years we've organized many live singles events. We had a host that would sometimes invite the guests to stay around if they wanted to after the event to play some games. She would bring some fun interactive games. We noticed something fascinating start to happen... More people would make connections at the games after the event than at the actual speed dating! That led us to creating this event. HOW GAMES WORK: At the beginning of the event you'll get to see all of the other singles who are participating in the event via video. The event host will then pair you off into smaller groups of about 6 people per group and you'll be working as a team against the other groups. We'll then mix up the teams so you'll get a chance to meet all of the singles participating. You'll be playing fun games like: * Answering fun trivia questions * Solving escape room type puzzles * Scavenger hunting * Solving really cool riddles * Playing fun games HERE'S THE REALLY AWESOME PART: After the event you'll be able select other event participants who you'd like to see again.
