EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Spring is one of the most beautiful times to walk through Central Park. Add a gorgeous sunset and you have a winning combo! Your guide, Dave Cervini, will share with you the history of Central Park from its heyday to its decline and rebirth. He will show you amazing pictures from a time before the park existed and vintage shots from the late 1800s and 1900s. You will learn of its construction, design, special secrets and more as the sun sets on a spring evening.

The tour lasts about 90 minutes and following the walk you can join our Cocktails and Conversations group at Tavern on the Green.

We will meet at the Mariners’ Gate entrance to the park at West 85th and Central Park West at 6:30pm.

Here’s how it works:

• Arrive at the Playwright Irish Pub at 6:30pm for registration, your code name and number.
• Everyone will be given a “Social Sheet.” This is where you can jot down the name and code numbers of those you want to share your info with. This is the only way that you will be expected to exchange info during the event.
• To get things going we will have an icebreaker game to liven up the atmosphere.
• Following that we’ll have everyone head to the Common Interests Corners (a quirky way of putting people with common interests together).
• Finally, we’ll start our Speed Socializing rounds where you will randomly socialize with at least 15 people for 3 minutes each using both prepared and your own questions that will help you find people you may want to stay in contact with. Please note that you will be paired with both men and women.
• When the socializing rounds are finished you can stay at the bar and continue conversations with the people you met.

Rules For The Social Circles After Work Party:

1. You may give your personal or professional info to someone but you CANNOT ask for someone else’s.
2. No last names.

Relax, have fun and socialize with other fun members on this beautiful 4 acre wooded property that is a 90 minute drive or a stunning train ride to the Hudson Valley. The House:
The house is a modern and clean chalet style house in a wooded area in Highland, NY. It is in between Poughkeepsie, New Paltz and Kingston, NY. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. A huge wraparound deck, a big fire pit, BBQ grill, meditation paths, a cool tree house games and plenty of room to unwind! Space is limited to 6 (plus Dave & additional host). How Do I Get There?
Most people will be taking the the 5:30pm Metro-North train to Poughkeepsie along the spectacular “Hudson River Line” for the group pick up at 7:09pm. You may also drive. Amtrak and Trailways bus also stop nearby.
If you wish to arrive between 5pm-7pm on Friday and not traveling with the group, you may need to provide your own transportation to the house.
What to Expect:
A laid back weekend of up to 6 mature NYSN members and friends gathering to explore and relax. On Saturday afternoon a separate group of 6 will join us for just the day.

• You can take Metro-North to Poughkeepsie or drive to the property. Approx. 7pm arrival. If you come later you can UBER from Poughkeepsie train to the house (10 minutes).
• After you get settled into your rooms, the group will meet on the deck for a delicious dinner.
• Then conversations on the deck or around the fire pit under the stars.
• Saturday’s activities will include: relaxing, a nature walk, relaxing, kayaking on the pond, a visit to Twin Star Orchards (home of The Brooklyn Cider House) PLUS a big BBQ Party Saturday afternoon and Saturday Night.
• Sunday morning breakfast, then relaxing time then departure for the 11:50am train

• Transportation from Poughkeepsie train to and from the house and to all activities for the weekend.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:
If you are looking for fresh air, great views, a good workout and fun conversations join us for The BIG Hudson Valley 2 Bridges Walk! This will be our BIGGEST hike/walk ever since you can easily get to the starting point by public transportation! You’ll be crossing the Hudson River on the Mid Hudson Bridge and then the famous Walkway over the Hudson, the longest pedestrian walkway in the world at 1.28 miles! Along the way your guide will share the history and details of the bridges and surrounding area. The walk will also take us through the tree-lined paths of Franny Reese State Park. We’ll have room for an unlimited amount of people.

Here’s the deal:

• You will need to meet the group at the Poughkeepsie train station at 11:02am. You can take the 8:50am Metro-North train from Grand Central Terminal or drive and park in Poughkeepsie.
• Your guide will meet you in Poughkeepsie then start you on your journey. The walk will begin in the historic streets of Poughkeepsie and then we’ll head to the Mid-Hudson Bridge for stunning views and the art installation Bridge Music.
• Once over the bridge we’ll make our way into Franny Reese Park to enjoy tree-lined paths and more great views.
• After the park we will enjoy a fresh hot slice and soft drink at Pomodoro Pizza at the entrance to the Walkway.
• After lunch we will walk over to the entrance of The Walkway Over The Hudson, an old rail bridge built in 1889 that was converted into a walkway in 2009 with spectacular views.
• After the walkway we will stop at a famous local bakery for treats.
• The entire process with take 4 hours.
• Expect to return to the train station in time for the 4:51pm train back to the city. You may also join the group at Mahoney’s Pub at the train station for an after walk beverage or snack!

What to bring:

• 1-2 liters of water
• Comfortable shoes recommended

How difficult is the hike? From a technical perspective it is a level 2 or 3 as it is mostly on clear paths. From a stamina perspective it is 6 miles with some uphill walking. It is suggested that you are in good shape and have no physical issues that may hold the group back.

Our interactive murder mystery nights are a fun and different way to socialize on a Saturday evening!
For each of these adventures everyone at the party plays a role and everyone is a suspect! When you arrive, our staff will be on hand to welcome you and explain all the things you need to know to enjoy the night. No experience is necessary. It is designed to be fun (not super hard). During the night our host will narrate the chain of events that lead to the murder then it is up to you to solve the case!

How it works:

• Arrive at Stout Grand Central at 6:00pm sharp. Our staff will welcome you and give you your character and explain how the mystery works.
• You will interact with others at the party to solve the case.

Do I need experience? No, this is designed to be fun and easy!

The Story: Murder of a Millionaire
Your presence is requested at Mystery Manor for an evening filled with murder and mystery in order to commemorate the death of the late millionaire, Rick A. Rochester. Among Rick’s dying wishes, he wanted his will reading to be a party thrown in his honor to gather together those most important in his life. From his eccentric ex-wife to his interfering in-laws, his spying servants to the provocative pool boy, it seems that everyone has a shot at a piece of his estate. As one of Rick’s closest confidants or family members, it is your help that is needed to piece together the mystifying death of Mr. Rochester and to avoid being the victim of yet another murder as you attend his will reading. Use caution in considering your involvement in this gathering, for as likely as it is that you will walk away with a great deal of inheritance, you are also just as likely not to walk out at all…

About the event: This Murder Mystery is hosted by The New York Social Network. We are not a professional Murder Mystery company. We are a social organization that offers these activities as part of our events for people to enjoy a night out, try something different, make friends, celebrate an occasion with groups of friends, etc. It is done in a very fun and casual way at a local lounge. • You will choose up to 3 colors that best represent things that interest you.
• When you walk into the room you will immediately see others who share the same interests as you! (Starting a conversation could not be easier!)
• We will also have several rounds of ice breakers that will connect you in even more ways.
• NYSN hosts on hand to welcome you and introduce you to others at the event.
• Up to 100 members and friends coming together to mix, mingle, network and connect ages 20s, 30s & 40s.
• We will have a special space reserved for 0ur group.
• Music played at conversational levels.
• Although the age range posted is 20s-40s there will be enough people from each age “decade” represented so you will feel comfortable.

Is this for singles? This is for anyone looking to connect with others. We will have one color dedicated to “singles” so you can see who the other singles are.

Can I come alone? Yes, most guests do! It’s a great way to meet new people.

Illness Protocols/Refunds
In accordance with current city and state protocols vaccination status or masks are not mandatory for this event. However, we do ask that participants act in a responsible manner and do not attend if feeling ill, showing symptoms or have been recently exposed to any of the current illnesses.. Mask wearing is optional unless the venue or city has mandated that. Everyone should respect the comfort levels of others as we transition into this next phase of socializing.
This event is nonrefundable unless canceled. If you have tested positive for Covid or are sick with any ailment that prohibits you from attending, we will do our best to provide you with credits for select future events with a copy of your positive test results or doctor’s note. Credits may or may not equal the cost of the event missed and may only be applied to events selected by NYSN.
