• Volunteers Needed For Harlem Food Bank Meal Preparation and Meal Service

Join a group of NYSN members as we help prepare over 500 meals for the needy and senior citizens at The Harlem Community Kitchen that is part of NY Food bank. No experience is necessary. The staff at the food bank will instruct you on all that is needed. You will likely chop, mix, stir and portion meals for distribution. At the end of the afternoon you will also help serve meals to those in the senior center. This event runs from 10:15am-4:30pm. Please do not register if you can not attend at those times. What to expect: Please arrive at 10:15 for check in. The kitchen staff will assign tasks for the afternoon. Please do not wear open toe shoes, sandals, jewelery, watches , etc while you are preparing meals. If you have a baseball cap or hair net that helps Can I come alone? Yes 100% of those attending will likely come on their own. Dress code: casual, no open toes age : 21+ ONLY Can I come for part of the volunteer time? Sorry we need you the entire time. It's a unique way to spend a Friday evening while meeting dozens of other fun members and friends! Come alone or with friends, we'll team you up then send you out through the halls of one of the world's most famous museums looking for clues, exploring the artworks, answering questions and taking picture challenges. Along the way you will see artworks from Van Gogh, Monet, Dali, Matisse, Warhol, Pollack and more! The group will meet at McGee's Pub for cocktails from 5:30pm-6pm. DO NOT MEET AT THE MUSEUM Upon check-in we'll group people together into teams (and have a drink). At least One person in your group will need to have a camera/phone. Can I come alone? YES! 95% of those attending will come on their own. If you come alone we will randomly set you up on a team. What to wear: Most people will be coming from work so business casual. Following the tour we will gather back at Cafe Iguana for food and drinks. Nothing too fancy! Here is how it works: Arrive at McGee's between 5:30-6pm, enjoy a cocktail and get set up on a team (if you already don't have one) Once you have a complete team we will send you out to the museum to find all the clues. What am I looking for at the museum? All the clues are things that are already at the museum. It is in the paintings, sculptures, gift shops, hallways, signs and the people that are there! Each team will have 75 minutes to find as many clues as possible. The teams with the most points will win prizes. Don't worry if you didn't answer all the items because there are bonus points. Level: NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. What's included? - A unique & updated scavenger hunt of MoMA that highlights the latest and classic exhibits - Venue fee for registration and post hunt gathering - Staffing for the event Please note that admission to the museum is FREE on Friday thanks to Uniqlo. If you are a member of MoMA or work for a company that is a member of the museum there you are welcome to enjoy the museum for free however the scavenger hunt is a separate event within the museum that is not organized by the museum.
