Play hooky on Friday morning and get a first-hand look at how our government works, from going inside high-profile Federal court proceedings to witnessing America's newest citizens get sworn in (in heartwarming fashion).
Join New York Adventure Club (https://www.nyadventureclub.com/) as we explore the inner workings of Manhattan’s Civic Center, the site of New York’s civic institutions that have shaped law and public policy in the city and nation throughout the past 400 years.
Led by Linda Fisher, a court stenographer for over 40 years, our unique experience will include:
• A discussion around key laws & civic institutions including the Halls of Justice, Municipal Archives, Landmarks Preservation Commission, and Open Meetings Law
• A look inside several active courtrooms throughout Civic Center including Criminal, Surrogate's, and Federal Courts
• The opportunity to witness the Friday morning Naturalization ceremony where new American citizens are officially sworn in and celebrate their newfound citizenship with friends and family
See you there!
*Court proceedings schedule subject to change
**Electronics including cell phones will be taken upon entry into Federal Courts and returned when exiting
***Photography is not allowed inside the courtrooms
****This experience can only take place on Friday mornings
