What we're about

This group is a resource for astrologers and people interested in astrology in the Sacramento area. Our main focus is the organization of monthly meetings and workshops in order to help teach and promote various forms of astrology.
The Sacramento NCGR Chapter hosts several types of meetings. We generally have a monthly meeting that centers around a talk from a well-known astrologer. Our speakers include local astrologers, nationally known astrologers and astrologers that travel internationally to speak at our meetings. We also sponsor smaller, more specialized meetings.
This group is a great place for astrologers to meet, network and share knowledge.
Our members include professionals, astrological enthusiasts and newcomers, all are welcome! NCGR (National Council for Geocosmic Research) is one of the largest national astrological organizations.

Richard Tarnas Gimme Shelter: Weathering the Storm in an Archetypal Cosmos

Sunday, April 28th, 2019... 2-5 PM- Sylvan Community Center Richard Tarnas Gimme Shelter: Weathering the Storm in an Archetypal Cosmos The evidence of consistent correlations between planetary alignments and world events, as seen through the lens of astrology, can provide us with a much needed context for our wildly dramatic time. Understanding the cyclical patterns and historical trends that preceded this moment can help us engage with greater consciousness and skillful intelligence the powerful forces now active in the world. In this sense, astrology can be seen as a kind of cosmic extension of the depth psychology project initiated by Freud and Jung over a century ago: helping us become more conscious of the unconscious, less like puppets and more like co-creative participants in relation to the archetypal powers within and around us. What is the current planetary situation, and which gods are now in dynamic motion? And how might our contemporary culture be transformed by the recognition that an intimate bond exists between the deep psyche and the cosmos? Join Richard Tarnas this afternoon for a discussion of the cosmological implications of astrology, and a “state of the world report” on the archetypal context of our national and global moment. ------------------------------------------------------------ Pre-registration price: $50 NCGR members, $60 non-members (available through April 25) Price at the door: $55 NCGR members, $65 non-members For the pre-register discount please sign up at https://ncgrsacramento.org/event/april-28-richard-tarnas-gimme-shelter/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Richard Tarnas, Ph.D., is the founding director of the graduate program in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He teaches courses in the history of ideas, archetypal studies, depth psychology, and religious evolution. He frequently lectures on archetypal studies and depth psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, and was formerly the director of programs and education at Esalen Institute in Big Sur. He is the author of The Passion of the Western Mind, a history of the Western world view from the ancient Greek to the postmodern widely used in universities. His second book, Cosmos and Psyche: Intimations of a New World View, received the Book of the Year Prize from the Scientific and Medical Network, and is the basis for the upcoming documentary film Changing of the Gods. He is a past president of the International Transpersonal Association and served on the Board of Governors for the C. G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. His website is CosmosandPsyche.com

Frank Clifford- Making the Most of Hard Aspects/Your Chart Ruler

Sylvan Community Center

Sunday, June 9th, 2019... 10-5 PM -->Please Note Location for this All Day Event! The Reserves at the Galleria Clubhouse, 501 Gibson Drive, Roseville, CA Visit info@ncgrsacramento,org for parking and gate code and registration. Lecture: 10 AM - 12 PM In the Midst of Every Difficulty Lies Opportunity: Making the Most of the Hard Aspects in Your Horoscope When two parts of the chart are in aspect to each another, a dialogue is formed. The nature of that interaction – the flow of energy – is revealed by the specific planets and aspect involved. In spite of what some books will tell you, the so-called ‘hard’ aspects bring the greatest rewards and describe our greatest successes – IF we recognise the invitation and accept the challenge. In this new seminar, join Frank to explore the nature of the ‘hard’ aspects (from the opposition to the square to the sesquiquadrate) and see how these can be best used in your life, work and relationship patterns. Bring your charts! ------------------------------------------------------------ Workshop: 1 PM- 5 PM Behind the Steering Wheel: Your Chart Ruler Your Ascendant is a vehicle that showcases a general attitude or outlook – one that you adopt to negotiate and interact with the world around you. It’s your open agenda and personality (i.e. your personal reality). But each Ascendant has a ruler with twelve possible sign placements (and aspects to that ruler). The Chart Ruler reveals the motivation or hidden directive behind the Ascendant – it is you as the driver of the vehicle and the route you wish to take. Join Frank to explore examples of the Chart Ruler from his files and from the group. Lunch Options Between the lecture and workshop, we’ll provide a light, catered lunch available at a modest contribution of $10. Lunch will be light as many of you will want to join us to take Frank out for dinner at a local restaurant after the workshop. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch, if you prefer. Sign up for lunch and or make your reservation on out website. ------------------------------------------------------------ Registration: Lecture ONLY Pre-registration price: $15 NCGR members, $25 non-members (available through June 6, 2019) Price at the door: $20 NCGR members, $30 non-members Workshop ONLY Pre-registration price: $50 NCGR members, $60 non-members (available through June 6, 2019) Price at the door: $55 NCGR members, $65 non-members BUNDLE DISCOUNT: Lecture AND Workshop Pre-registration price: $60 NCGR members, $70 non-members (available through June 6, 2019) Price at the door: $70 NCGR members, $80 non-members Pre-register https://ncgrsacramento.org/2019/03/june-9-frank-clifford-making-the-most-of-hard-aspects-the-chart-ruler/
