This event is a follow-up to last week's, which was about Nietzsche, truth, and objectivity. I want to talk about transjectivity, which is a meta-modern approach to understanding that is between objective and intersubjective. I wrote this essay:

To sum it up: journalists and scientists aim for objectivity, but that isn't a perfect understanding of reality. Our subjective thoughts and feelings can be mutually understood to some extent, and thus we can call that intersubjective. There are many social situations in life that are dependent on both the objective and intersubjective intertwined in complex ways. Each of us will perceive situations in life and be treated slightly differently by others and treat others slightly differently because of who we are and who they are. This relationship is somewhere between objectivity and intersubjectivity. With effort, we can wrap our minds around this, since otherwise we might think that everything is objective in the social world (it's not!) or else we might think that the social world is an extension of all the BS we have in our own minds (it's definitely not!)

The graphic shown here accompanies the essay. You are encouraged to read this and and look at the graphic tell me what you think.

Note that this is in-person. We'll be meeting at McKinley park.

We will meet at the gazebo at McKinley park. This is a large covered structure near the basketball courts and near the playground. It is just to the south of the big building there, kind of in the middle of the park.

We have a 10 person limit, social distanced. Please only RSVP if you are able to come to the event.
