What we're about

The Buffalo Chips Running Club is the Sacramento area’s largest, oldest, and most friendly running club. Although some speedy Chips belong, the majority of our members are beginning runners, recreational joggers, and middle- to back-of-the-pack fun run participants. We have a walkers group of Buffalo Chips too, and a very active youth program, the Chip Youths. Join us for safe, friendly, advice-filled runs, jogs, or walks at one of our many workout locations. You need not be a member to participate, but once you give it a try, you won’t be able to resist joining to take advantage of all the great perks available to card-carrying Buffalo Chips. Click here to join the club as a member.  Non-members are required to acknowledge and sign a liability waiver before participation.

River Park Speed Workout

Needs a location

We'll meet at 5:45 pm near the entrance to Glenn Hall Park for announcements. The workout starts immediately after and includes a warm up jog, interval workout, and cool down jog for a total of 4 - 7 miles.

With high temps, please adjust pace and distance as needed.

This week's interval workout is:
2 sets of
1200m / 400m recovery (to the park)
600m / 300m recovery
600m / 300m recovery (past the park to Cisco Cr and back to the park)

Note our runners are great at many things, RSVPing is not one of them.
We have been getting about 15 - 20 of our finest runners for this meetup recently. Please take care to follow parking signs in the neighborhood. There is plenty of parking you may just need to go a block or two over from the park.

If you are not (yet) a Registered member of the Buffalo Chips Running Club, please sign the waiver here:

Saturday Run--Panera Bread

Needs a location

Where Are We Headed?

Beginning near the 6.5 mile-marker on the American River Parkway Trail, we will head upstream, going under the Guy West Bridge, and continuing on towards the Watt Avenue over-crossing.

This will be an out-and-back course workout. Distance and pace will be determined by the participants and their individual training plans.

Typically, someone is there at this location fifteen minutes before the listed starting time should you want to engage in some pre-workout stretching.

Sunday Run--Gunther's Ice Cream

Starting in front of the ice cream store, we will head towards Curtis Park for some "race prep" to get ready for the Fourth Of July 5-Miler the next day. The workout will consist of mile repeats around the park.

Distance and pace will depend on the training plans of the individual participants.
