We all know that exercise is important for health. But, did you know that the foods you eat can help you maintain optimal fitness? Whether you move for recreation and fun or if you are a competitive athlete, the foods you eat matter. Plant-based or vegan foods have many benefits for all levels of athletes. This 2-hour class developed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine aims to empower attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare simple, nutritious meals that fuel optimal fitness and recovery. This class includes cooking demonstrations of plant-based dishes made from commonly found ingredients; a nutrition lecture; shopping advice and cooking tips.

Maggie Zurowska, PCRM Food for Life Instructor arrived in the USA in 2002 from Poland and quickly immersed herself in the food industry. In 2010, she pursued a degree in Tourism, Hospitality, and Culinary Arts from Kingsborough Community College. Upon graduation, Maggie contributed to the culinary program at Kingsborough Community College and SUNY Brooklyn Educational Center by City Teach as a lab technician, teacher assistant, and eventually as an adjunct professor lecturing Front of House Management, customer service, culinary skills, and tourism.
Maggie transitioned to a vegan lifestyle after learning about the cruelty within the food industry. She teaches vegan cooking classes for Classpop and Cozymeal. She became a certified yoga instructor (500 hours).
In 2023, Maggie graduated from Main Street Vegan Academy.
Maggie also offers personalized cooking classes and coaching through her own service, V-Karma . She continues to teach yoga and promote healthy, responsible living.
Maggie is a dedicated animal rights activist.
